IHOP — Restaurant in Redwood City

Alright guys on this day IHOP disappoint me and my whole family. We went during the night so that might’ve been the reason why, but still it’s not an excuse for the amount of terrible customer we received. So we ordered our food and mind you it was mad late so the place was empty. Our food took a while to come out and our appetizer came last!!! However the server specifically is what made our whole experience terrible. She never once checked up on us, asked if we needed anything else, or any refills. Then when we asked her for more napkins she forgot the first time so we had to ask her again and then she brought them out after a few minutes. Then after me and my family finished our food, we were waiting for the check and a few to go boxes. Mind you the server was right across from us sitting down chatting which I know it’s late and they are super tired but still like come on we were clearly done with our food and just waiting there. I even stared her down but still no reaction so I got up and went up to her and asked her to give us a few boxes and the check. She then later comes with the stuff I asked. I thought that was the end of it, nope. She came with more surprises. The service was already not good so my family decided to give a personalized tip. She came back and circled the tip she wanted! She told my parents that this was the tip she wanted and deserved. She then rejected our tip and just left it on the table. To ask for the kind of tip you want is crazy and especially when it’s not required. This was just not it and like I said it might’ve been because it was late but this has never happened to us at IHOP before, so we were just shocked. It was my sisters birthday as well so it wasn’t a great way to end the day lol. Our family has consistently enjoyed pleasant experiences at IHOP, but our recent visit on June 9, 2025, was marred by highly unprofessional service from our server, Zaria G. We confirmed the “Kids Eat Free” promotion (4PM-10PM, one free kids’ meal per adult entree), yet the kids’ meals were incorrectly included on our bill. Zaria neglected to provide requested chocolate sauce for my stepdaughter’s French toast, disregarded our attempts to get her attention while she was preoccupied with her phone, and failed to refill our drinks until I explicitly requested it at the meal’s end. Her conduct was discourteous—she dropped the check on our table with a vague “you can pay” and offered no guidance on payment options. When we addressed the billing error, Zaria displayed overt rudeness, rolling her eyes and attempting to snatch the receipt from my hand, creating an uncomfortable environment for my stepdaughters and our party. When I politely requested her name, she initially refused to provide it, only relenting after a professional coworker intervened. While the food met expectations, Zaria’s dismissive attitude and lack of basic customer service skills were unacceptable. I will be escalating this matter to IHOP’s corporate office and strongly urge management to address her conduct to prevent future...

Will never eat here again. Waited more than 5 minutes to be acknowledged after walking in the door. Waited 10 minutes for my server to come to the table. There was a total of 5 other tables occupied. Not exactly very busy. She asked if I was ready to order or if I wanted something to drink. My response was "Yes, I'm ready to order, but can I get a water with extra lemon, please? And can..." And she walked away. 10 minutes later she brought water, and then walked away again. I had to ask for extra lemon, was finally able to order, and she walked away before I even finished ordering. I watched the same server give attitude to another patron because he asked for onion rings instead of mashed potatoes. He ended up having to pay for a side of onion rings, and got them about 15 minutes after he got the rest of his food. When MY food showed up, the toppings (grilled onions and peppers) were minimal. A teaspoon at best. The fries were old and soggy. I didn't see the server back at my table until I placed my plate to the side.
