I loved coming here when I was younger. I also really enjoy the atmosphere, but I have to admit my last visit here left me disappointed. My hubby and I always come here for the fries so we waited online for about 22 minutes. While waiting we saw saw about 3 couples who were ahead of us, leave the line.
I assumed people were leaving the line prematurely due to the long wait but as I got closer I found my self leaving in search of somewhere else to eat. I watched the gentleman making the food openly touch raw meat and place it on the grill then grab onion from the prep table and garnish someone else's burger without changing gloves in between. Cross contamination is dangerous and I was then shocked to watch another gentleman place raw/frozen burger patties on the prep table on top of the lettuce and tomato containers. In addition, for some reason, they were taking 1-2 orders at a time and preparing them which tooked 5-7 minutes per order before taking any additional orders which is also why we stood in line for so long just to end up leaving empty handed. I'm truly saddened at the whole thing.. I really use to enjoy...
Read moreFirst of all this place needs a good thorough health inspection. Today I went in there to get some fried chicken to go, the chicken breast I had ordered was severely undercooked. I believe in constructive criticism and I thought I should call them to let them know that they're serving raw chicken to their customers. When I had called the man was very rude, he said that stuff happens and if he were to cook it longer everyone would've had to wait longer to recive they're order. But the thing is no one was waiting around and he grabbed it from the hot box so that was just B S and I'm certainly sure people should get what they're paying for and this means a properly cooked meal. I asked him if he cares about the quality of his establishment and he sort of said yes but in a very strange way. I guess he thought I was after a free peice of chicken so he offered it to me and I declined, just wanted to make sure people arnt walking out of there with salmonella. Yikes! Now thinking of that place and how they handle there food makes me wanna puke, it was...
Read moreI saw someone else say this but I agree, Gus’ is Rehoboth. It is one of my top two favorite restaurants ever.
Perfect beach restaurant known for its walk-up counter. It’s a vintage breakfast/lunch diner that is renowned for its hamburgers, cheesesteaks, hot dogs, and sausage sandwiches. The burgers in particular are probably the best in the state, and maybe anywhere. They also have great boardwalk fries. The fried chicken there may be good but don’t let the signs fool you into thinking that’s what they’re known for.
It is mainly for walk ups but if you go inside you’ll see the original 1956 interior. Some may say it looks like it needs some cleaning but they do keep it clean, it is that the place has been serving beach goers and subject to the beach weather for 60+ years which has worn down the interior quicker than other old school places. It will likely look like that until they do a renovation, which I hope never happens if it means getting rid of the historic interior. It’s a shame it only has 4.0...
