We’ve eaten here hundreds of times over the years. The food is always delicious, and comes out piping hot. The service is usually very good. Occasionally we get a server that hasn’t been properly trained and doesn’t know to double back to the table a couple of minutes after you drop the food off to see how it is and if the customer needs anything. This particular location (not sure about the others) has an outdoor patio where dogs are always welcome. They always have 2 big bowls set out front of the hostess station…a water bowl and one filled with milk bones for the puppers. And often the servers will bring milk bones to the table for your pets. They have individual pet water bowls upon request although they also often bring these out as soon as they notice your sweet fur babies. The ambiance is awesome outside. Very nice tables, some of which are under their trellis and have ceiling fans above while others are in the back and each has an umbrella. The inside tables all have the ability to watch whatever is on the big screens that day. Sometimes there’s a wait but usually not more than 15-20 min and it goes by quick. This location is right on Rehoboth Ave quite close to the boardwalk so you can usually hear whatever band is playing the bandstand that night if you’re seated outside. The service we had tonight was top notch. I can’t remember the guys name but he’s pictured in the photos. The only reason I gave 4 stars is bc we do eat here so often and find that a lot of times it’s 4 star service.

Pizza Night!! I have always been a Nicola Pizza boy. (for like 30+ years) But, over the last few years, I have given Grotto another go, and they are really improved. I believe the last time I ate in this location (or maybe it was the boardwalk location) I called it the "Carnival Cruise Line of pizza joints". Well, I take that back now. We had a short wait outside and then were shown to our table on the deck. The server was very prompt. Our orders came relatively quickly for a semi-busy night (we did have to wait for a table after all). They did make a mistake on our daughter's junior pizza (wrong toppings) they let us keep it and got another one out to her very quickly... She had fries too, so she didn't starve while waiting. The whole affair was quite nice and we all enjoyed our food, and had very full bellies.

The flagship store of Grotto pizza will always have a soft spot for me. It's my wife's favorite pizza place, as well as my mother-in-law's. The location is close enough to the beach to feel the ocean without being in the wind that's right on the water. The cheese at Grotto is a lot of what makes it different. It's a combination of italian cheeses and cheddar that give it the unique taste I've never found elsewhere. The toppings are always fresh and the dough is always the right consistency between soft and crisp. Try the italian sausage mixed with the sweet peppers. They have a multitude of other menu options as well for those not pizza inclined. And for dessert, they have their own gelato that is absolutely smooth and creamy.

A few friends and I sat on the second floor. My experience here was terrible. I understand that the windows are open upstairs but there were flies everywhere. The waiter/bartender was inattentive, our table had to ask him to refill our drinks multiple times and had to ask him to take our plates and he brings out my friends salad with no dressing. He didn't know drink prices when I asked and I had to blatantly had to ask him to check so I could know. Then when checking my ID he makes a comment "you're cutting it close." referring that I was too young to have a beverage and I'm 22 so I don't know why that was even said. Then the other waiter said "yeah, that's why she's at the bar." I just thought it was very unprofessional. I ordered a long island ice tea and it was all mixer, not very much alcohol for the price. So I ordered something else and it was literally all soda and I try to get another drink and he "cut me off" saying that it was a lot of alcohol but these drinks literally almost had nothing in them. I would understand if the drinks were strong or if I was acting obviously intoxicated, which I wasn't. I had to also call him over to the bar each time to even get a drink when he was doing nothing and I thought that was very rude.. I also gave him my card to swipe and then he brings me a recipet that hadn't been swiped so I don't understand why he swipped my card at first. He was the bar tender with red hair and glasses. I would never...

I recently visited this place with my family, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Due to having young children, we were seated in the back room, which we didn't mind initially. However, we quickly discovered that this area was infested with an alarming number of flies—around 100 or so.

When we inquired about this with the waitress, she nonchalantly mentioned that it's always like this. This was quite concerning, especially since we noticed that diners in other parts of the restaurant, including the patio and the front area, did not face the same issue. It was evident that the back room was a hub for these flies.

We felt compelled to rush through our meal and leave most of it uneaten due to the flies constantly landing on our plates and food. To our dismay, we saw that other families with young babies were still being seated in that room as we were leaving.

The lack of concern for families, especially those with young children, is a significant reason why we will not be returning here. The poor standard of food does not justify enduring such an uncomfortable and unhygienic environment. We urge other families with young children to consider this before choosing...
