My experience is from long ago but still relevant till today. Anytime the place is brought up or I am near it anxiety rises up do to what I experienced. Management and staff were unreasonable and lashed out at me with slanders accusing me a fraud with what appeared to be dozens of people around and a packed dining room. They were loud enough to cause people in the dining area to look over to see what was happening while I remained calm and reasonable, they would not listen to me. This was all over a restaurant.com certificate that I had legitimately purchased for Louie's Pizza. I had purchased a several of the certificates and had used one the previously a year or so before not long after I purchased the certificates with no issue. I confirmed with restaurant.com before I even went that it was still active and could still be used as it had no expiration. I was accused of fraud without them even verifying the confirmation number on the form as it was legit. I tried to explain that I could verify with evidence as I had a receipt from restaurant.com or to use the confirmation number and the phone number as restaurant.com has verification methods. But they became more and more irate and hardened in their belief, threatening to call the police instead by picking up the phone. I do not care for attention in general and was incredibly embarrassed with all these people staring at me thinking I was committing a crime, fraud, and with my wife and 2-yo son sitting right out front waiting in the car for me to bring a pizza out. Extremely frustrated I contacted restaurant.com which apologised that they would act that way and refunded me. Then I wrote a Facebook review/post about essentially what I wrote above. They then went into libel territory with a reply and stated that they had called the police. I called the Rehoboth Police Department so that I could show them the legitimacy of the certificate that they were claiming was fraud and give them my side. However them calling seemingly was a lie as well as the Police Department stated they never received a call about it. I posted a reply about this and also I believe I attached a screenshot of my receipt with restaurant.com. I don't know if they felt they had a bad contract with restaurant.com or if some people were coming in with copied certificates but that was not me and had proof had they stayed level headed and quit doubling down. It took a whole two years after that incident before restaurant.com sent out an email that Louie's Pizza was no longer taking certificates and they would issue refunds, however they had already issued me one after this incident. I posted an additional comment with the screenshot of the email as even more evidence and at that point the review and comments were still there. However those have now disappeared so I went on restaurant.com and made sure to take screenshots of how I had purchased them. I no longer use restaurant.com because of this incident and I no longer go to Louie's Pizza which is ashame as they do have excellent pizza. I believe the people involved was one of the sons who came out and joined in after a women at the cashregister started yelling at me. I have never received an apology but was one of the most traumatizing events in my life to be treated as a criminal and accused of crimes I did not commit and to get yelled at and lied about in front of dozens of people and then for them to continue those lies on Facebook. It was an incredibly stressful situation to be in and the stress and feeling of that continued long after. I'm not someone who is overly sensitive but how intense the situation was still causes anxiety and frustration to rise up by just going near the place or hearing about it. For those reasons that is why I wrote this review and I feel like it was just swept under the rug after I provided evidence rather than an apology with my review and our comments disappearing. For this and because it seems to still be family owned and under the same management I feel my review is...
Read moreAfter getting referred to this place from another restaurant (we wanted a good cheese steak) it was all just down hill from there. Maybe we missed the signs about the dining area so forgive me, but this will be a harsh review still. So, having never been here we ordered on carryout side. While placing the order we noticed an area where people were eating inside (divided by glass wall) so, we were not asked for dine in our carryout. After ordering, my fiance, and my two children made our way into the dining area. One of these kids is smaller and wash still in a stroller. Another sign we missed was the (no stroller sign) mind you I arranged the chairs at the table to where they weren't blocking the aisle and the stroller was also free of the aisle. Withing two minutes, we were approached by probably the rudest person in Delaware. In the bitchiest of tones she asks "did you just order over there" we reply with a polite yes and some she storms over to the other side. We never spoke with her again. 10 minutes into it, out toddler in getting impatient and had ran out his snack. Being a very persistent child, he began with a category 1 tantrum. After 3-4 minutes of that we were getting restless. I'm typically a patient person with places serving my food. So, it's now 15 minutes in. I'm invested in more than just money. There's also a separate woman, who was obviously a waitress. We had no interaction (which is also a problem) until I got up to ask where my food was. Being that she didn't take the order she was unsure. This is where the girl that initially tool the orders steps in and says "we called it multiple times" this is where I lose it because this whole time, as we were waiting, I had made eye contact with this girl about 5 times. I flipped out. Asked for my money back and went to grottos. We spent twice as much money but we were served with respect and that girl...
Read moreI just don’t understand the hype, or the high rating for that matter. Ordered a regular plain cheese slice last night on the boardwalk for $4.50 (yes $0.75 more per slice than Grotto’s) and I was the only one there. A wrong number was called out, no one came up, then my number shortly after… it was a few teenagers running the takeout section so… yeah.
As you can see from the photo, there is not a drop of tomato sauce on the entire slice; therefore, it tasted near flavorless. Got some garlic and grease in my mouth, then I had to walk across the street to Grotto’s and get their slice of cheese to satisfy my pizza craving. At least it was cheaper. Yep, $4.50 flushed down the toilet.
If you’re looking for a great NY-style cheese slice in Rehoboth you won’t find it on the Boardwalk. Maybe in a few years? This was my second visit, as the first time I tried a slice from Louie’s it was similarly bland. I wanted to give it a second chance due to the high rating (?) and because the place was very busy when I went back in June.
Louie’s is...
