My spouse refers to Northwest Reno as a coffee desert, and she's right. There really aren't a lot of options up in this direction. Old World is a HUGE get for the northwest...centrally located for folks in the Kings Row/7th Ave corridor, as well as Mae Anne, Robb Dr, and even Somersett. If you've never had Old World downtown or at their Carson location, you're in for a treat. They roast their own coffee, on site, so you're drinking local. They have a great menu, with the basics (brewed coffee, espresso drinks), specials that change occasionally (I'm currently in love with the mocha drogata), teas, and single-origin pour-over. In other words, something for every palate. Fast, friendly service means you can take your drinks to go. But the space is really cool, too - a bit more airy / open than the downtown location, with high ceilings and a couple of bars...and, of course, the roaster out in the open, where (if you're lucky) you can watch the beans go from green to delicious. Both times I've been there, I've seen folks hanging out, working or socializing. There are some other respectable coffee shops in town, but Old World remains the gold standard, in terms of quality, service, and vibes. This new location is a major addition to the northwest. Highly recommended.

Absolutely poor quality control on their whole coffee beans. I was on the second 10 ounce bag of whole beans, and I found out the hard way that there were rocks in it! It jammed my $2500 breville coffee espresso machine grinder and absolutely ruined it. I am not pleased and definitely will never be going back. I had been getting my whole beans from HUB coffee for years and years and never once had a rock in my beans. I am furious. Not only were there rocks in it, but also a piece of glass. (See photos). I am only on the second bag from here with rocks, glass, and a ruined breville espresso maker.. I highly recommend not getting beans from here, and if you do, you better check it thoroughly before grinding unless you want a ruined grinder and/or ground up glass in your coffee grinds.

It doesn’t matter what location or what item I am order; the out come is always the same. Top Notch! Their coffee is the best in Reno whiteout question. Firefly is their flagship and is a tried and true. But I adventure out and try their single origins whenever I can. And the baristas ensure it pulled right even if it takes two pulls. A plus in my book. Speaking of baristas, they are always welcoming, personable, and looking to make your experience the best they can. It makes me want to come back every time knowing they are excited about coffee. I could go on and on, but here are my must tries: Single origin flat white Nitro or cold brew Single origin short americano Thanks Chris for bringing amazing coffee to Reno! See you next time!

We wanted to get Breakfast next door at squeezing, but we had an hour wait! I decided to grab a coffee next door with my kids. My older daughter got the seasonal sweater.Whether latte iced with oat milk. My younger daughter got a hot chocolate and was obsessed with the latte art on top. I love finding a coffee place that makes the kids drink feel as fancy as the adult drinks. I got and highly recommend the Mocha Dragoata. The deep dark chocolate flavor and velvety topping is to die for.

The total for our three drinks was $21.34 which originally I felt was a bit steep but after enjoying my coffee on their outside patio I have to say I will totally pay it again. The staff was so incredibly friendly. We were sitting outside and the barista was kind enough to carry out the hot chocolate for my daughter. She said that she Wanted to wait for her coffee on her own and I believe got in timidated and did not want to spoil her "Coffee" art. We can't wait to come back.

I took some great pics and...

As I sipped on my lukewarm latte at Old World, I couldn't help but reflect on the peculiar charm of this establishment. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a level of disdain that truly sets this place apart. It's not every day you encounter such a commitment to customer indifference.

The ambiance? Well, let's just say it's an acquired taste. The decor seems to oscillate between eclectic and downright chaotic, with a color scheme that defies all known conventions of aesthetic appeal. But hey, who needs ambiance when you have the pleasure of being glared at by the owner as if you've just committed a grave offense by daring to enter?

But perhaps I'm being too harsh. After all, Old World does offer a unique experience—an experience that leaves you questioning your life choices and contemplating whether you should have just stayed home with a jar of instant coffee. In that sense, it's a...
