Heard a lot about Roots Cafe so I decided to give it a try for breakfast. Ordered the huevos rancheros and an iced tea. My order total before tip was a little under $18. If you're unfamiliar with huevos rancheros, that's 2 eggs cooked to order, refried beans, smothered in salsa with a side of house potatoes. Around here, huevos rancheros are served on top of a crispy corn tortilla. You can add meat/protein to your order for an extra $3.99, (I did not). As you can see in the photo, the presentation of the dish is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the taste of the dish, including the salsa, was on the bland side. I was seated right away but no one took my drink order until they took my food order. I waited almost 10 minutes to get my order taken after putting my menu down and making eye contact with just about every server on duty. There was one server who provided excellent customer service to her assigned tables. I'll be on the lookout for her if I ever make it back there.

Local in the area, first time eating at this restaurant and from the jump the customer service was phenomenal! Our waitress, Missie was friendly and genuine; she walked us through their menu and gave plenty of time for us to decide. Not once did I feel rushed to order or finish my food. The restaurant owner, Alfredo even came out to speak with me and my mother for a period of time - an honest good man who puts the community first. The mashed potatoes and white gravy were amazing! The veggies with the chicken fried steak were cut to perfect size and cooked to perfection, wasn't dripping oil or soggy like other restaurants. The BLT sandwich was FULL of bacon, everybite was consistent; to all my BLT lovers I would highly recommend you try! The fries were awesome, the crunch was just right 🤌🏾 The menu is continuously growing, I look forward to bringing friends/family here in the future. And the best part? Its local! 10/10 Would Recommend

I came here on a morning when I just needed a good breakfast and a place to breathe. The chicken fried steak was hand-battered to order, the home fries came exactly as the regular at the next table promised — crispy and full of flavor. But what really stood out happened after my plate was cleared. A man walked in, clearly struggling. The owner came out from the kitchen to offer him water. “I don’t do water,” the man said — and we all laughed. Instead of ignoring him, the owner went back, made him a hot meal, and handed it over with another offer of water. Still refused. No judgment, no lecture, just food and dignity. This is the kind of place where the owner runs the kitchen with heart, the regulars make you feel welcome, and people like Kim (my server) will box your food like family. If you’re looking for a cafe that’s more than just food, Roots Cafe is it.

We’ve been 3 times so far, & we’ll definitely go back! The staff is very friendly, alert, & ready to serve. The food is amazing & the prices too! 4/4/25 We found this little gem, & are very happy we stopped by. The staff was friendly, attentive, & quick to serve. The prices were terrific with filling portions. The food was fabulous! We seriously enjoyed every bite. The potatoes were crisp on the outside & soft on the inside, crispy bacon, eggs done right, & the unexpected fruit with pretty little flowers added a sweet touch. My over medium eggs were cooked perfectly (thankful for this as a lot of places undercook them). My husband's pancakes were fluffy & my toast was also perfectly toasted. The coffee was strong & flavorful just like we like it. We are excited to go back to try their dinner options, & we'll definitely be back for breakfast again soon!

4/5/25 We went back for dinner! Dinner is served Friday & Saturday from 4:30-9:30pm. After we previously visited for breakfast we knew we wanted to try their dinner options. So, Friday night we arrived at 4:30pm to get an early start. I ordered the crab cakes & calamari. My husband ordered the lamb chops. As usual the platings’ artistic flair could not be beat. Everything was delicious! The crab cakes were delicate, flavorful, & filling. They had very little filler & loads of crab with green onion (that was new for us, but we enjoyed the fresh addition). There were 3 sauces. One was a homemade tartar sauce & then there were the pretty little dots of green & red which were a bit spicy but so very tasty with that crab! The lamb was seasoned & cooked perfectly. My husband was extremely pleased. I am not usually into lamb much, but it really was very well done. The garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed zucchini & spinach, & rosemary sauce were all lovely as well. And those edible flowers add such a fun pop of color to the dishes.

4/11/25 We went back for breakfast again. Loved our breakfasts again! Couldn’t even finish all of the food, again. LOLz As we were boxing up our leftovers, we were greeted by the chef who wanted us to try a new dessert he had created … the churro cake. OMG that was so full of flavor, warm & gooey yet firm & held its adorable lil’ bundt shape. The sauce he drizzled over it paired with the dusting of cocoa & powdered sugar enhances the flavor a bit more. We will definitely order that next...

I can only say that every bite was an incredible experience! You had to savor every spoonful! From the absolutely lovely presentation to the amazing aromas, the fresh and colorful ingredients and the delectable flavors….. the dishes engaged all our senses and made the experience one to remember! I can’t wait to taste and try the rest of the menu items! This will be a regular place for me whether it’s date night with my hubby, a night out with the girls, or a family gathering! My friends and I came in during the last hour of the evening on a Saturday night and the food still tasted like they had just opened and it was the very first meal prepared that day! The love and care that went into each dish was simply joyous! It has been a while since I have tasted that level of love and passion for the cuisine in a meal and it occurred for each of us that night! Also, our server Paloma was sweet, courteous, and accommodating and the chef even came out to greet us, check on our satisfaction and comfort, and share a bit of time with us as new customers while gifting us one of the most delicious desserts I’ve ever tasted! It was a blessed way to end our evening out as friends! God bless the hands and heart of this chef and his beautiful family as they serve these delectable meals to the community they also call home! I will be recommending this place to everyone I know and...
