Honestly this dose not come close to NYC pizza. As a NYC native I was excited to try Jo-Jo's because I heard it was really good. Lies, the pizza is flavorless, they are very stingy with the sauce and cheese. I came in looking for a chicken slice they told me they only pizza i can choose from is the display slices. Which were extremely dry. The guy seemed to have an attitude when I asked about a regular chicken slice because all i saw was bbq chicken and buffalo chicken. Only think New York about this place were the yankee and giants signs. Also the place was very dusty and dingy looking. There hours of operations make no sense. Who is eating pizza at 9am. I could have over looked the attitude and the dirtiness of the place if the pizza was actually good. Worst Pizza I HAVE EVERY TRIED IN RICHMOND!! And I have lived here for 2 years. I'm still confused on how they have 4 stars. Like how? I wish i could...
Read morePrior to today I’ve been in this shop one time and the owner seems to be a good guy. Today my experience was very combative when trying to verify/discuss a pricing discrepancy. I ended up paying $14 for an advertised $8 sandwich and it wasn’t even good. Google seems to have a different menu for the establishment and when I was charged differently than what I saw online I was cut off once he felt he heard what he needed to hear Vs allowing his customer that chose to spend their hard earned money w him speak entirely and come to the proper understanding. I am a New Yorker as well so I understand aggression /directness- so I won’t accept that as being an excuse to be disregarding to a customer concern. Sometimes people just need to be heard so they know they’re truly understood. I guess that’s beneath him. It isn’t to...
Read moreJo-Jo's is easily my favorite pizza place in Richmond. The owner is personable and funny and always behind the counter.
The pizza is phenomenal. The crust has a great crunch to it, but isn't so crispy that it feels like you're eating a cracker. The pizza comes out at the perfect temperature unlike many places that do by the slice where it comes out hot enough to burn the roof of your mouth.
The seasoning is on point, the cheese is fresh and tastes great but it isn't overloaded like many other places. You can tell that they shred their own cheese rather than buying the preshredded stuff that's full of sawdust.
At 5 bucks for a big slice and a drink, it's not too expensive. Overall a great pizza place. The only thing I would change would be to have them open late night or even just open until...
