I finally got over to Yumvees which has been on my list for a while to try. The food is amazing! This is an all vegan restaurant, meaning that every single item is vegan safe. I'm not vegan myself but I do like a lot of vegan food because it's usually pretty healthy stuff using lots of vegetables. If you have been curious to try some vegan cuisine, this is definitely a great place for a first time because everything is tasty and you don't miss meat or dairy based cheese at all in any of the dishes. I went with a friend and we got a bunch of dishes to try (and then I ordered way too much takeout to take home to my husband). The tostadas were crisp and well seasoned, the cheese, fruit and vegetable plate was fun and a delicious variety of items including a nut cheese, spicy jam and hummus so you could make your own combinations of flavors, the egg rolls (use both the apple and sour cream - trust me I know it sounds weird but it works beautifully), and the butternut mac and cheese which tasted like fall on your spoon. I got so wrapped up in the food that I forgot to take more pictures. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Tracy, who is delightful and a very cool person. You can tell that she puts a lot of love into the business and what comes out to your table. Oh and always ask about the desserts because they are not on the menu and can change often - tonight was pineapple upside-down cake and a pumpkin chocolate chip cake.

Vegan 'chicken' parmesan @yummvees. Overall 6/10. Decided to try this spot with a friend after we couldn't figure out what to eat. No this place was good, I would say that the seasoning level was probably geared more toward the other cousins 🖐🏻... with that said I was pleasantly surprised with the overall texture and taste. I had had tofu-based meat products before and I have not been impressed. This was actually decent. I would return with friends who were exclusively vegan, if someone else wanted to try it but probably not on my own. Unless they Add a little more seasoning to the food... Then I might Mosey back sometime to check it out. The staff was great the facilities were nice and it was a pleasant experience. The location is interesting as well. It is in the shopping center that has seen better days in relation to foot traffic though the overall condition of said shopping center is pretty good. It will be interesting to see how well they do in that location. I think that in order to thrive they will need to do some serious PR work and pushing their brand on social media.

First time here at Yumvees, decided on a birthday brunch. On this day, It was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside but it was super hot so we were seated inside instead. Our server was okay, seemed nice but unfortunately wasnt very helpful and seemed a lil distracted. The food, I had ricotta pancakes with blue berries on top. They were a special of the day and were very good so I literally ate every bite. One of the people in out party ordered a meal that had tofu egg in it and he hated the taste. I ordered a homemade biscuit with strawberry jam and it was not the best. I was so let down because I was so excited for it, thinking of the taste of a soft buttermilk biscuit... but what I got was thick, and hard, very bland. Thankfully, the pancakes were so good and filling that it made up for it. I would go back, and just steer clear of the biscuits and eggs.

This is one of those rare gems in the dining world that provides an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable, and the service attentive and welcoming. Dining room has a rustic feel with calming and tasteful decor, and helps you feel relaxed and unhurried to be fully present for your meal. Tracy (the owner) takes time in the dining room to ensure everyone's comfort and satisfaction, and that makes such a difference. You can tell she is truly grateful for her customers and for the chance to care for them. As such, it is not surprising that their family story is reflected in the love and care poured into their dream. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (tofu), and as a person who spends a lot of time in Nashville eating the real deal I can tell you that this one blows the sauce off of most of its Nashville counterparts. The slaw on top perfectly balances the hot spice and the texture of the tofu. The hand-cut fries are the perfect accompaniment. Portions are very generous. I am a mostly plant-based eater who has sampled vegan cuisine all over the US, and Yummvees is by far one of the very best. I am delighted that they are close enough that I can get the Nashville hot chicken experience and not have to leave Virginia! Looking forward to trying everything they have...
