French country cuisine? I think not. A good effort but not authentic, unfortunately. The food is OK, not "awesome". I agree, more bistro. But some things just rang alarm bells - no boiled potatoes, no Dauphinois, milk in packets, no French bread, butter from the freezer, no salt / pepper grinder (they had shakers, ok), and so on and so on. They shut at 2030! The Maitre'd was cleaning the tables as we finished our desserts! Nice people, we were unlucky to be there with two very loud tables (is it only Europeans who object to shouting over dinner?). Waiter made a real, real effort - a nice guy - but you're not going to find your favourite Larousse item here. Example: Prosciutto with salad: The prosciutto was on bread with grilled cheese! A croque monsieur! Perhaps just their sense of humour, but I think more adjustment to the US food style. Shame, I was really looking forward to some simple, straightforward plain cooking.
Dont expect French food in anything but name - its Americanised! Probably a bit like eating a NY strip steak in London - same name, but that's all.
Nice people, good service. Probably the...
Read moreExcellent! We walked in for dinner and they seated us in the side room, as the main room was already full for later reservations. I am normally a casual diner, so this was possibly the fanciest place I have been to. For my second visit I would definitely wear something nicer than a t-shirt and jeans and make sure to have reservations beforehand. There are not a ton of tables, so this is a nice intimate space. I would have loved to include pictures of our food in the review, but this is the kind of place where taking out your phone to do so would probably be tacky. The waiter was excellent and literally checked on us every 5-10 minutes to see if we were pleased or needed more to drink. Food was wonderful! My husband and I don't drink alcohol and we usually eat less than the standard american-sized portions so we forewent the wine, had one appetizer, split the entree (did have an additional $7 cost for that, but we each got our own side) and got two desserts for about $52 before tip. When we had our check delivered our waiter asked if he was going to see us again and I enthusiastically said...
Read moreThis was a huge disappointment for me and my husband. I'm half French and Asian. And my husband and I love the French cuisine. Unfortunately, we had learned never to go there before dinner. Their menu is more American, with Sandwiches with your basic side dishes like macaroni and French fries. And even though the atmosphere does have a familiar French touch with French music and a few decorative items to embellish a French theme. The food lacks the authenticity of the French delights of European and cultural French foods. As for their Dinner menu. This is also more Americanized than anything near authentic French. On a good note, their host/waiter does speak French and is very polite as he frolics from table to table. In conclusion, The Fries are French Fries! And this restaurant does give a nice French placebo effect, with the American Onion soup and your typical...
