Update: June 18th 2020. The manager of this Restaurant contacted me. He assured me that this was an off night and that their hush puppies were nothing like what we received and that they are normally like what we expected. We went back and tried the hush puppies and OMG, they were just like what we were used to. So delicious and so wonderful. Thank you Michael Garland the general manager of Long John Silver's. You really worked with us. When we went back and got our Hush Puppies, they were awesome and delicious. Just like they always have been.

We have not eaten at LJS in a few years.  The fish, chicken, and coleslaw were just as delicious as always.  What in the heck happened to the Hush Puppies? They have been changed. The hush puppies we all ate tonight were nowhere near the ones we grew up with. Our family grew up with LJS from the '60s to the present. Hushpuppies were one of the main reasons for us eating at LJS for all of these years.  Why would you change a food item that made you so famous? When something is already delicious and popular it should never be messed with.  It should never be changed.  These new hush puppies were the worst we have ever tasted.  The texture changed.  Everything about them changed. There was nothing to them but a Big Greasy crunch. No cake texture in the middle.  You could not even break them in half without them crunching apart. I have pictures of what LJS hushpuppies used to look like and of what they look like now. We have actually been wondering if this issue is at only this location. We do hope that it was just a one-night bad experience. We really hope it hasn't changed for all of the food chains. I recently stopped by Long John Silver’s and ordered the Shrimp & Fish Platter with waffle fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, a crab cake, and extra fish. Here’s my experience:

The Food:

Fish: Absolutely loved it! The crispy golden batter on the outside and the flaky, tender fish on the inside were perfect. Definitely the highlight of my meal.

Hush Puppies: Solid choice—cooked well and had a nice flavor.

Shrimp: Pretty good! Fried nicely and tasted fresh.

Waffle Fries: Didn’t really care for them. They were a bit too hard for my taste. I personally prefer steak fries, so I’d go with a different side next time.

Crab Cake: It was just okay. I wasn’t a big fan, but it wasn’t terrible either.

Coleslaw: Unfortunately, I didn’t receive my coleslaw, which was disappointing since I was looking forward to it.

Drive-Thru Experience: One downside to my visit was the drive-thru layout. When I was pulling up to the window, I hit the edge of the curb, which stuck out more than expected. It was kind of a surprise and not the best design—definitely something to watch out for if you’re going through the drive-thru.

Final Thoughts: Overall, the fish was fantastic, and I’d definitely come back for that. The shrimp and hush puppies were good, but I’ll skip the crab cake and waffle fries next time. Just wish I got my coleslaw! The drive-thru could use some design improvements, but other than that, it was a decent visit.

Would I return? Yes—but I’d double-check my order and be extra careful in the drive-thru!

P.S. I was telling one of my friends about the experience he did say the curve was awkward and recommend to try the root beer next time if I go in . Cold mug . I was like hellyeah . Haven't had a decent cold glass...

Food was good. My server / cashier did excellent customer service , all employees were working hard keeping place clean , wiping down tables, countertops , condiment area .What I didn’t like was the manager yelling at all the employees who were all working hard ! He yelled at the cashier who was helping me because he was engaging in a friendly conversation with me while taking my order , I’m 66 yrs old,the cashier was in his mid 20’s at it was nice to have a young person be nice , respectful of seniors instead of those snot nosed kids that are rude , lazy and disrespectful. Then manager stood behind counter and yelled at all the employees and said “ I don’t want to see anyone standing around doing nothing “ in front of all of us customers !! Never in my life have I ever been a place where management treated employees like this in front of customers !! The employees were all working hard and there was no need for this ! It’s was like he was showing off exerting his authority !! This is not good...
