Oh my oh my, I don't know where to start. My family is Cuban, but we also have quite a bit of Puerto Rican relatives through marriage. I've had Puerto Rican food a good portion of my life and I enjoy cooking it as well.
Today I gave this place a try, I really wanted to like it and looked forward to my meal.
After 45 minutes of waiting I received my order. Mofongo and a rellenas de papa.
The rellenas de papa, was way too crispy on the outside with a super greasy mashed potato to where it was almost translucent. The ground beef was 100% flavorless. I couldn't even finish it.
The mofongo, I took it with roast pork. The mofongo itself was so bland I took a COVID test to make sure I wasn't sick. It's like they're allergic to salt and it didn't even have any garlic!
The roast pork was bland as well and came with a salad that is an insult to salads.
The only saving grace of the meal is their garlic sauce.
When we came up I believe the owners were stepping out and left two young men in charge. The speed they work is so slow that I was impressed any food got out. They handed us the rellena de papa in a container filled with grease, drain it before you put it in a container or put something on the bottom to absorb it.
I might give this place a try when the owners are there, but if these young guys are there when I decide to hit them up again I will turn around and walk out.
Puerto Rican cuisine is supposed to be cooked with 2 things, love and seasoning. This food...
Read moreI went there three different days and tried an array of dishes. I was really disappointed, I expect so much more from Puerto Rican cuisine. The arroz con gandulas was tasteless. The arroz con habichuelas was ok. The potato salad was actually pretty good. The pernil was also missing flavor. The Cuban sandwich was a concoction I have never seen before. The fried chicken was also ok, albeit a little dry. Overall I gave them a 3star for effort. Will check on them in a couple of months if they are still...
Read moreI tried the food today for the first time because my cousin told me about it, but not satisfied. The flavor of pernil wasn’t there and the white rice was a little gummy and the beans didn’t have no flavor I didn’t taste the sofrito in the food at all. I also cook Puerto Rican food also and my cousin said my beans is more flavorful. She had to put salt on her food and that is not good. Alcapurrias should of been fried a little longer too soft no...
