Initially we were excited to try a new Mexican restaurant so we figured we would check this location out. We were sat down and asked for our drinks and then found out that don’t serve any alcohol. Little disappointing for a Mexican restaurant but okay. Placed our drink orders and waited and waited. I thought maybe they didn’t serve any chips and salsa because it took over 15 minutes for the chips to come. We got cold chips and no salsa. The 4 drinks came and we received 2 straws for 4 drinks. Had to wait for the waitress to reappear to get 2 more straws. Apparently they were backed up on getting the salsa ready. Took another 15 minutes for the waitress to come ask if everything was okay and we had to remind her about the salsa. Finally the tiniest little cup of salsa came. We tried not to laugh at the tiny cup we were supposed to share with our table. We quickly ate through the single basket of chips and was never asked for a refill. We were starving and bored. Waited over 30 minutes for the food to finally arrive. The waitress sat the plates down and left. No forks or napkins to eat the food. Had to wave the waitress down to get forks to eat our food. Ordered 3 fajitas and didn’t get tortillas for any of the plates. The waitress said they were backed up in the kitchen on tortillas. The plates were a mixture of hot and cold food. Cold beans, cold rice, hot vegetables and meats. We were starving so we didn’t wait for the tortillas which was the smart thing to do because 20 minutes later the waitress comes and asks how the food is and we had to remind her that no one received tortillas for their meals. The tortillas finally came and they tasted awful. At this point we were done and tired and ready to go. Asked for boxes and the check and the waitress dropped off the boxes and left. Took another 10 minutes before we all had to stand up and get another waiter to locate our waitress about our check and we could finally leave. First and last time we visit this...
Read moreHaving spent over 30 years in Southern Arizona, I know a couple of things about Mexican food and "Super Amanecer II" in Roanoke, VA is as close to authentic as you can get without needing a US passport to re-enter the country.
The portions are generous and the corn tortillas are made fresh for each individual meal. Pricing is in line with the quality and quantity of food served.
While at "Super Amanecer II", you will want to visit the Mexican Grocery that is accessible from the dining room or streetside. A simply incredible array of products from Mexico, Central and South America. Be sure not to miss it.
When in Roanoke, I go out of my way to eat there every time and, if you have the chance, I'd encourage anyone to...
Read moreWent there for lunch today, and the food was great, but the young female waitress was there to serve my food, and never came back to refill our drinks, not once and there were only 2 other couples in there eating. She disappeared for 15-20 mins from the whole dining room, no one recieved service at all. Our table needed more drinks, and I placed my cup on the edge of my table before she disappeared for 20 mins, and she walked right by it, and didn't even look at us or check to see if we needed anything. She showed up, as we were getting up to leave. I told her we needed drinks for some time, and she didn't say sorry, or anything, so this is why you didn't get a tip.will...
