We visited Anthony's on the recommendation from a work colleague. Upon entering, we made our way to the bar had a seat. It took a few minutes for for the bartender to greet us, at which point we were already ready to order.
My coworker remarked that this would be a good place to bring a group of people after looking around and seeing the rather well-kept dining room. A quick look at the bar area told a different story, though. Granted, it's a bar and prone to spilled drinks, which are often sugary. I got the sense that a thorough cleaning of the bar area wasn't management's top priority. This was confirmed when our food was brought out.
I ordered an appetizer of the garlic knots, which were amazing. Good size knots that were well cooked, with plenty of garlic, butter, and salt. They had a good color on top and very crispy, but the insides we're neither overdone nor underdone. It was enough garlic on top to really enjoy but also question if you were going to regret it later. After only a few minutes of sitting there, several small flies seem to appear out of nowhere and start flying around the food. This is what caused me to think that the bar cleanliness wasn't quite Management's priority.
Main entrees were brought out and did not disappoint. My colleague got the coal-fired wings and, upon taking his first bite once they had cooled (they seem to have been cooked in a nuclear furnace), declared them to be the best wings he had ever had. I got the coal-fired chicken sandwich which was honestly overcooked. The focaccia was dry, but still fluffy. The chicken was definitely overcooked as well cup of with some corners of the piece almost impossible to bite through. I let the bartender know of the situation, and she immediately asked if I wanted some additional vinaigrette, which I agreed it needed. It was brought out within seconds and helped make the sandwich a little more manageable to chew. I ended up taking some garlic and butter from the garlic knots and adding it to the focaccia which only increased the enjoyment factor.
Overall, I give the restaurant four stars. The constant issue of flies hovering around our food really soured us to the whole experience. The wings were amazing, the garlic dots were amazing, and the folks at the bar next to us had a pizza that looked really amazing. I would go back, but definitely not sit at the bar. Overall,...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I eat out every evening. On Friday, November 30th we went to ACFP in Settler’s Ridge and had a wonderful experience dining at the bar. The restaurant was busy and the bar was at full capacity. The staff, Samantha and Miranda, were very personable, conscientious ad responsive. We enjoyed ourselves so much we left a 25% tip and made plans to return. On Tuesday, December 2ndwe returned around 5:45 pm. This experience was unbelievably horrible. The bartender, Bobbie, apparently did not want to be there and her service was extremely disappointing. This was a slow evening at the restaurant and the bar had 6 people including us. My boyfriend had to wait approximately 8 minutes to be acknowledged and receive a beer. When he inquired about the frosted glass, Bobbie replied “it feels cold to me, I put them in around 5”. My boyfriend then had to ask if she could put a few glasses on ice. Next, I attempted to get her attention for us to receive last call for Happy Hour. Bobbie had just returned to the bar from replacing a keg. When I asked her, she replied that Happy Hour was over. I asked that since she was not there to serve us if she could give us one last drink. She copped an attitude and said she was only gone for a few seconds and she couldn’t as the register automatically changes prices when HH is over and that she can’t magically make the register work. Bobbie then proceeded to walk over to the corner of the bar and laugh with the lady sitting in the corner. I find this very unacceptable behavior being a Manager myself in the industry. When Bobbie finally decided to return, my boyfriend asked for one last beer and the check. When Bobbie took the check and cash, I told her I wrote my phone number on the bill so she can add our reward points. She said ok. When I checked my account online today, there is no record of our transaction.
I would think this behavior is not up to ACFP’s...
Read moreEdit: the manager kindly offered to compensate me for my order by remaking it and THAT was the pizza I remember. It was so delicious; with a crunchy crust, stringy gooey cheese, and flavorful pepperoni. Plus, I love the flavor that the wood oven gives the pizza crust and you can even see the different in the photos...the new crust is more firm and crisp, and is also a different color. As well, the ingredients are layered differently and everything looks fresh🤌🏻
I'm really bummed. I eat ACFP in McMurray all the time, to the point where I crave their pizza specifically! Being wheat-free, it's one of the best options for a gluten friendly crust. Figuring I was going to be near the Robinson location, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab my favorite pizza. But I wish I had, unfortunately. Their crust is COMPLETELY different from the McMurray location. It was thin, floppy, and plain...a MAJOR disappointment. Especially for the cost at over $50 for two pizzas. I purchased another pizza with my order (just a regular pizza), which also had a different crust from the McMurray location as well. Very odd.
The only thing I can think of is that the restaurant seemed to be having some sort of maintenance issue as they were closed for dine-in, and maybe that's where the difference came from. But I'm majorly disappointed and had I known it would affect the quality of order, I wouldn't have gone.
Edit: ACFP reached out to me within days of posting the above review and are offering to remake my order. The air conditioning unit was broken during my visit, causing the pizza doughs to rise and bake/cook differently than they're used to. I will update my post once I've received the new pizza...
