A bunch of my friends and I decided to go to Applebee's around 11pm tonight as it was the only restaurant that said they would be open till 1am. What I was greeted by was apalling. My friends were more than courteous with the waiters and manager, who after initially telling us that we could only do take out - agreed to let us eat there at the table 2 hours before closing time(oh lucky us).
On top of that, my friend conversed with perfect yet accented English to which the manager responded with answers as though he was talking to a 3 year old- slow and dumbed down . So blunt that each and everyone of them picked up on it. Essentially implying that my friends couldn't understand basic conversational English....My friends-EVERY ONE of whom at that table that night were doctors. My friends- who have received top scores in highly competitive US Medical entrace exams (all of which, just to be clear, were in high level medical English) and are joining distinguished US residency programs. Yes.Those friends. It shocks me that being multilingual or the ability or lack thereof to roll an "r" can be equated to lack of intelligence.
It was embarrassing and insulting to say the least but that was not all. The water was not served to us, cutlery not laid out, and although I don't completely blame them for the subpar food like my cold quesadilla (given the time of night), I felt like although I was paying good money for it, they acted like they were doing me a favor by asking the kitchen to prepare a meal for me.
If I am paying $100 dollars to eat at your restaurant and you have AGREED completely to serve me - kindly do so without making me feel guilty or else tell me you cannot do so and we would have happily gone somewhere else. I hope in the future you treat all your customers regardless of skin color , age , sex, or creed with equal respect and professionalism.
Thanks.

Read morei often order from Applebees because it’s close to my house, stays open late, right next to my job, and I can place an order online and pay in cash when I get there which is nice and often convenient for me! But everytime I am there, nobody approaches me. I’ve learned to just go down to the bar right away or grab someone on my way down there, as I know if i don’t take matters into my own hands, I’ll sit there forever. I placed an order for a burger and fries for takeout, and to pay in cash, I was at work and wanted to use my tips. And there was an amazing deal on the burger for burger day. While I applaud that, And the food was good. And usually is. The service is God awful. Probably the worst I’ve ever experienced, anywhere. Anyways, last night I go up to pay, I tell the nice host I still had to pay for my order. It was a 10$ order and I had a 20$. I wait 3ish minutes until someone comes back to bring my food, she takes me cash and says she’ll be back with change. I was on a break and wasn’t super in a rush, but I had very little time to get the meal and get back to eat. Any other time they do the cash transaction right in front of me, and I get my change back right away, and usually tip the rest of the change anyways. Or most of it, depending on what I get and how much I pay with. It took over 5 minutes for me to get 10$ back. For burger day it surprisingly wasn’t even busy at all. And it was 10$ it wasn’t hard math. I wasn’t asking to break a 50$ or 100$. A 20$ bill on a 10$ order. And I know it seems small, only 5 minutes. Chill out. It’s everytime I’m there tho.. and i was on break. And it wasn’t even busy for real. It’s truly frustrating. Most likely will...
Read moreI wouldn’t go to this Applebee’s. The service was just bad overall. Waited 5-10 mins just to get recognized by someone to seat me and my friend down. He didn’t even apologize for the wait. We then go seated and looked over our menus and order our drinks. Once we did order our food. It felt like it took awhile, the place wasn’t even that busy. When the waiter came out my friend and I saw that they gave our appetizer to the table across from us. We watch those people talk about the appetizer because they were confused why they had it. Again took about 10-15 mins to get our appetizer. There wasn’t even an apology about the wait or saying oh we gave it to the wrong table. Also, the appetizer was made wrong, but whatever I was hungry because I had a 10 hour shift and just wanted to eat. We got our food, and it was fine. But my waitress just took awhile. She visited us once to refill on water. She didn’t ask if I wanted a box to go. I just paid on my card and we got up and left. I talked to the manager before I left and she seems like she understood what happened but not really. I wasn’t upset about my appetizer not brought to me. I was upset because the service just sucked. I would of like an apology of mistaken giving food out by mistake and the wait on my main food and the seating. I work in the food industry too and I get it when small problems happen. I just wished they could of said something to me. I get it, I may look young but young people should be just as respected as the families who comes there with kids. I’m not coming to this...
