I recently had the chance to try Benedict's for breakfast in Rochester, and I was eager to see if it lived up to the local hype. I'd heard great things about their extensive benedict selection, and as a big breakfast fan, I was excited to check it out. Since there are two locations, I've gathered that both share a similar vibe: a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with a focus on classic breakfast and brunch fare. The decor seems to be comfortable and inviting, perfect for a relaxed morning meal. Of course, the star of the show at Benedict's is their namesake dish. The menu boasts a wide variety of benedicts, from the traditional Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon to more creative options like the Florentine Benedict with spinach and tomato, or the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Based on reviews, the hollandaise sauce is consistently praised for its richness and flavor, a crucial element for any good benedict. On my visit, I decided to try the classic Eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, with runny yolks that oozed out when I cut into them. The Canadian bacon was flavorful, and the hollandaise sauce was indeed rich, creamy, and lemony – exactly what I was hoping for. The English muffin was toasted just right, providing a nice base for all the delicious components. My companion opted for the Florentine Benedict. They were equally impressed with the perfectly poached eggs and the fresh spinach and tomato. They mentioned that the hollandaise complemented the vegetables beautifully. Beyond the benedicts, the menu also offers other breakfast staples like omelets, pancakes, waffles, and breakfast sandwiches. I've read positive reviews about their omelets, particularly the Denver Omelet and the Western Omelet, which are said to be packed with fresh ingredients. The service at Benedict's, from what I've gathered, is generally friendly and efficient. Even during busy periods, the staff seem to handle the crowds well, ensuring that customers are taken care of. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. It’s not the cheapest breakfast in town, but it's definitely not overpriced, especially considering the generous portions and the focus on fresh ingredients. Overall, my experience at Benedict's in Rochester was very positive. It's a great spot for a delicious and satisfying breakfast or brunch, especially if you're a fan of benedicts. The wide variety of options ensures that there's something for everyone, and the quality of the food and service makes it a worthwhile dining destination. I would definitely recommend Benedict's to anyone looking for a classic and well-executed breakfast experience...
Read moreThis was my first time at Benedict’s. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so I had no doubt I would love it. It’s located inside the Hilton hotel area. We found absolutely no street parking, ramp it was. Which add a fee to the meal- but few other options. We were quickly seated and given a menu. There are like 7 different choices for eggs Benedict! 💗 I ended up ordering the Standard breakfast. It was prepared as I ordered. My over easy eggs had been cooked in oil/butter and had the burnt crispies on the edges I hate. However, maybe others like this. My breakfast potatoes were the best I’ve ever eaten. The sausage was large and much more than I expected. One would have been an good serving. The toast options are many, I did the sourdough and it was good. However the butter was whipped which makes toast watery. I asked if there was other butter, but sadly not. My toast was already cool when it came out, so no melted butter. My companion got the Jimmys special and enjoyed it. Her hash browns were cooked and seasoned amazingly. We both ordered coffee. The coffee was gone before our food arrived. I asked for more when our food was delivered. It’s not delivered by the waiter staff, but by the kitchen. We never got more coffee, which was sad. I could have used one more cup. I did ask for a box for my breakfast potatoes, 1egg and 1 sausage. But no one ever brought it. The food is great, service not quite worth the high price for the meal. It was $56 for us without a tip yet- and just a single cup of...

The Nordeaster... Made by someone who has never touched lobster. Now I realize most people will think I must be asking a lot in landlocked Minnesota. Overcooked rubbish is what was on my plate. It tasted like... The "mustard" from a crab. Bad quality for sure, and then overcooked to boot. Like, at first I thought I'd gotten the wrong food and someone served me overcooked fish. Seasoned by someone afraid of seasoning. Old Bay? You could have fooled me. There was no Old Bay taste. You don't have to be afraid to actually use it....I know you can eat lobster in Minnesota. I get lobster rolls in the cities that are just fine. I eat seafood in Omaha and have good experiences so it's not a Midwest problem so really...No excuse. The sweet potatoes were black in some cases. Positively tortured.
My son, who is 11, ordered the regular no frills Benny. He is a Benedict lover and the reason we came here. He commented that the ham "looked like something you'd just buy at Cub." Which mirrored my thoughts that the ham was essentially cheap Carl Buddig lunch meat pack. He added a metric ton of salt to his hash browns. So I'll comment that it's not a sin to salt when cooking. It's pretty bold to have a restaurant called Benedict's and not be able to make Hollandaise sauce. It should not be watery. It should have flavor.
He did like his creamsicle mocktail.. So I guess you get one...
