I was in Rochester Hills for an event in October and Knapp's was just down the street from my hotel so I stopped in for donuts and a breakfast sandwich. The donuts, so delicious! A great variety and they nailed it on a few of the special kinds that I love. Their French cruller was perfect - a delicate crunchy glaze and a wonderful texture and flavor, moist and light. Not many places make these anymore and when they do, they usually aren't that great. And their cream filled donut was one of the best I have had in years. So many places either have a cream filling that is too heavy and grainy with sugar, or they fail to fully cook the donut, leaving an unpleasant texture. The cream filling in Knapp's was light, smooth and creamy, the donut was perfectly fried. Their apple fritters were awesome too. The breakfast sandwich, while assembled from pre-made items and heated in the microwave, was no less tasty! If I lived closer, they would have plenty of my business. I’ll come back and edit this with some pics, but let me tell you…… These folks know how to make some doughnuts. Some of the best I’ve had in awhile and today was my first time dropping in. I grabbed a dozen on the way to work and everyone that I offered them to enjoyed them I think as much as I did. Apple fritters was all I had experienced today but I won’t lie, I’ll probably become a frequent fly by at this place!!! So good and fresh and yummy. Staff was extremely polite and helpful and inviting. Edit: Stopped in again today and grabbed me a delicious breakfast sandwich. Croissant with bacon, egg, and cheese! Yummy. Grabbed some delicious donuts again to share with friends and family. Everything I’ve had the last two times has been delicious.
