This cafeteria is a necessary service, not a restaurant. They do not intend to attract an external audience, but sometimes you may be surprised that they have affordable variety of good eats when food in the line is freshly made and not reheated. This is a very nice service which provides inexpensive food to allow patients and visitors to fuel up while at the hospital. Sadly, the same frozen food that felt comfortable and great on Wednesday will be reheated until Friday when it may just be charred all around the edges. Cafeteria is open a good number of hours with pre-packaged cold options in the fridge like drinks, sandwiches, a cold salad bar, and other shelf stable stuff like what you would find in health inspired vending machines. Hot meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals are at very specific times, although sometimes they leave a pizza on the tray. Hot meal menu does not appear to be planned far ahead nor posted anywhere, but when they start prepping they place the cards on the line so people that wander inside can know what to expect later. This cafeteria is very different from the patient in-room service menu that is cooked to order a-la-carte and delivered to the patient's room an hour later. While the food options are different, you can order a guest tray to the room as well and pay for it with a credit card, but insuring you get good freshly cooked food while staying on-site. Hot meal options are very limited on weekends, cross your fingers or have a second option if you do not get discharged by...
Read moreA "strong 4", (I don't give a 5 Unless I am extremely impressed) There was a fair bit of variety here and a good amount of food. Salad bar for Monday's lunch had a nice variety and included some non-standard items like some nuts, spinach and 'other salads', like cottage cheese, potatoes salad, that carrot stuff with the raisins in it, and some jello looking stuff lol They had a standard assortment of fried items such as chicken strips, fries and egg rolls. They had a grill with burgers, chicken breasts and some kind of veggie burger. There four different pizzas and the main entrees included fish and some kind of casserole. Pricing was a little below average. Dining area had plenty of room with a relaxed atmosphere Monday night's of an outdoor area which was successful for seating in good weather. Very low on electrical outlets but the Wi-Fi was stable for over three hours. My mom insists that out of the five hospitals she's eaten at, this was by far the best and even plans on eating there for regular meals. That is high...
Read moreI have worked in Food service almost my entire life, from taking orders in a drive through to making and serving orders for patients. I have also run my own team before and everything. I can safely say that this is probably one of the most poorly run service wise places to eat I have ever had the displeasure of going to before in my entire life. They have consistently and repeatedly forgotten my order and have BLAMED IT ON ME. I would be right across from where servers would pick up the food and deliver it and they would still somehow either miss me or forget about me and say: “well I couldn’t find you.” Now you may think that that’s just the servers, nope. The management ALSO serves the food and ALSO misses orders as well.
I have had only ONE and I mean ONE employee ever get my orders on time and I have to pray to get him because if he is not there I am guaranteed to not get my food. If the entire kitchen relies on ONE server to get things right out of the 5-8 they have. Something...
