Rick's Roadhouse — Restaurant in Rockaway Beach

Superb. First things first, this place will not be for everyone. No kids are allowed so it's adults only. Every now and then, that's something to behold when you are traveling as two adults. We visited on a Thursday afternoon after arriving in town and walking around to find somewhere for a drink. It's the kind of bar that could be intimidating to some. Regulars sit at the bar and go about their day the way they always do. The regulars and staff can best be described as 'salt of the earth' that you find in many small towns around the world. Engage with them and you find they are full of charm and wit. Ignore them and of course, they will ignore you as you go about your business just as they do theirs. We chose to engage and drink a couple of beers at the bar. After a while (and after seeing some super food pas by) we decided to eat here and so glad we did. The French dip i tried is the best i've ever had......hands down! The place looks like a bit of a dive bar both inside and out. Don't be intimidated, go in and chat with the bar staff and locals...they don't bite and the experience will leave you better for it. Great place, wouldn't...

This place does not indicate it is only a bar nor do most bars close at 10pm... however this didn’t stop one of bartenders over the phone from being completely rude to my boyfriend for asking a question about drinks they served to which he responded “ well we’re a bar so what do you think”. We decide to still give it a try as they were the only place still open in this area and were open for another 30 min ( enough time for a drink one would think) without even being able to say a word apon entry we were accosted by an older woman at the bar who practically jumped down our throats that she was done and not taking anymore although the bar still had multiple customers drinking. Was on a family trip to take my husband that's been fighting brain cancer for the last year. Was also my 61st birthday. I have no words for how rude and nasty the owner Rick is. We got up and walked out. I have never had anyone, at a business i was patronizing, be so nasty and rude. This guy actually walked over and literary screamed at me and my sister in law because my husband had to run to the restroom and we told him we would watch his machine. I cant even Express hold rude this person was. I will never step foot in this place again and suggest people go elsewhere so you are treated with respect as a...
