If I could give my recent experience with this restaurant less than one star I would. I order a make your own platter from them delivered by GrubHub. By the time I placed my order my food was delivered at my door within 15 minutes. I am thinking this is going to be a good experience as I had ordered the same exact platter from them earlier in the week. That is how much I have typically enjoyed their food.
Well, for the 14-15$ I paid for just the food for one (without tax or any other fees) I would have done better buying groceries and making food myself for several meals. There was very little food in my order. I would say there was 1/4 cup of hummas, 1/4 cup of babagunush, 1/4 cup tabouleh, 1/4 cup rice, two small falafels and two pita breads. The restaurant did not follow the request to place ADDITIONAL tahini and pepper sauce on the side of the order as well as on my order as I requested in my Grub Hub order.
I was so upset and disappointed, especially as I had the same exact platter earlier in the week and the portion serving were vastly different. I took the time to write a review, my first ever, right then and there before eating the food.
A thought came to my mind. I wonder if my food came so quickly after I ordered it (within 15 minutes) as it was sitting around in the kitchen and was not freshly made? Only the rice was warm not hot temperature wise. The falafels were cold.
I attempted to eat the food but was so disgusted that I threw it in the trash after only a few bites. It was tasteless at that point. To make matters worse, before writing my initial review I did call the restaurant to let them know about the portion sizes shortly after the food was delivered. I spoke to a man named Maron who questioned whether I ordered the food from his location in Rockville. He tried to say I ordered from the Rockville Town Center lication at first. Guess what? After a few minutes he found my order and said that I could drive back to the store and he would remake the order. At that point I was too disgusted. I ordered and paid to have my food delivered. Driving to the restaurant would defeat the purpose. I think a better suggestion might have been for him to make a new meal for me to pick up eithin the week and I would bring them back the poorly plated food which I would keep, unbeaten, in the refrigerator so that he could see exactly what was of concern for evidence.
Order at your own digression but you may want to have some cereal or a pb&j sandwich at the ready if you also are short platter on...
Read moreThe only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the staff here is still awesome. Same great people from before.
But that aside... This place is not what it is was just a month ago. It has been completely changed from the menu to the cramped sizing. I understand trying to save on rent especially in this area, but I got bumped into 3 times while eating at one of the high tables. The menu got rid of all the better food options like the chicken kabob and the salmon. I'm guessing because they took to long, but they were so worth the wait! Sorry pescatarians, no fish here any more.
Also worth mentioning that the lady at the table next to us asked to talk to the manager. The nice lady on the floor staff went to get him and said he would be out in a few minute. 15 minutes later he had still not shown, and when the customer asked where he was she was told he left. If your management does not want to hear from its customers, your have a MASSIVE problem in management.
We loved this place, but I can easily say we wont be back to this location unless there are some serious changes. Maybe try the one in rockville...
Read moreEarlier this afternoon I took my wife , my son and daughter in law out for lunch, the restaurant was clean, neat and the manager was extremely courteous. My son and his wife ordered the Supreme Feast ... what a great choice: Shawerma both beef and chicken, all kinds of salads: Hummus,Baba Ganush , Labneh ,Tabouleh besides the garden salad. Then there was the stuffed vine leaves, Kibeh and of course Falafel. Top this all with straight out of the oven was their exquisite piping hot Pita Bread. My wife and I chose the Pick Five , each picked the Shawerma & Vine leaves. Her leaning towards veggies made Tabouleh and Humus a natural choice and lastly she chose Kibeh ( that meat all stuffed with pine nuts and cracks wheat. I chose Fatayer which is a meat pie wrapped in a thin layer of pastry. For a take out dinner I would never hesitate to order that feast for two. Ask for extra bread to make sandwiches with the leftovers, you will be surprised how plentiful the servings are and now you have som delicious snacks ready...
