Update- 8/7/21 I've been here about a dozen times now, have seen the shift in staffing and watched the menu changes, which are mostly good for a business. On Sunday I ordered the Chicken and Waffles, DON'T ORDER IT unless your on a diet. What I received besides attitude, was two small, I mean small chicken bits on 3/4 of a single waffle. I though I was being pranked, asked if there was more chicken coming because the picture is a full chicken breast and having had it before, expect more chicken. I was told no it wasn't a joke, it is the portion....Upon bringing it to the managers attention, FYI he was running around as it seems staffing was an issue that day, he was pretty unhelpful and unwilling do anything. I pointed out that the kids meal had more chicken pieces, and what I received 3/4 of a waffle and the menu says waffles, as in plural....blank stare. I finally received a 50% discount on the item after a persistent conversation, which still seemed minimal at best. I get not everyday is the best day, but as the customer I don't need the read out of the issues your entablement is having, I'm there to enjoy myself, not to be brought into your pit of issues. It was a short 2 months, from 5 stars to 1. If you go, sit at the bar, at least you will have someone that can help.
It's the old Standard Service location, same cool vibe but the new décor is clean and simple, but the food adds the color. We sat at the bar in big comfy seats, were educated on their scratch made beverages using fresh ingredients and infused alcohols. The Mule was fantastic, I'm not really a big cucumber guy, but the blend with the blueberries, candied ginger, and fused vodka was super fresh and light. My wife got the Sangria, here too we found out a lot of fresh ingredients and apricot puree', a little twist. If my perfect drink with a sweetness of 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, this was a 6.5, just a smidge sweet to me, but refreshing. Round two we had the Blood Orange Margarita...Boom! They nailed it. Food- We tried the Bacon wrapped figs as an appy, I wants all 5 on the plate and graciously shared 2 with my wife, winning at dinner and these are tasty!! We both went the pita route, she went traditional, I was chicken, that is the meat I chose. You get a side too, the wife went with a salad, I went with fetta fries. We loved the Pita sandwich which is mounded with shaved meat, perfect amounts of sauce, and wrapped to minimize the spilling, but very filling. Our sides we very good, her salad was a meal, the fries with the gravy and fetta were tasty! We plan to go back and try more and even get a weekend brunch in, the crème brule' French toast...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have been here once before and had a good experience so we decided to go back today for their listed 3:00-6:00 happy hour. We walk in and are greeted by a waiter and we ask if it’s ok if we can sit at the bar. He says yes. It’s also worth noting there’s not a single table in the restaurant.
When we sit down, another server comes over behind the bar and says “Our bartender isn’t here so if y’all order drinks we can try to make them”. Odd to not have a bartender during your happy hour hours but I didn’t think much of it. I figured maybe the scheduled bartender had something come up and called in last minute which is understandable if that’s the case.
My girlfriend ordered a frozen margarita which was one of the featured items on the drink menu. The waiter replies with “we don’t do frozen margaritas anymore”. Again, we found this odd given it’s one of the main things advertised on the drink menu but obviously this isn’t the servers fault so we didn’t say anything about it. she then orders a glass of wine. I ended up ordering a beer which the waiter immediately poured it and gave it to me. Likewise, we ordered an appetizer and received it very quickly. The wine that we had ordered, however, was a different story. The bartender, after pouring my beer, pulled out a wine glass along with beverage napkins and started messing with the napkins right next to the wine glass. At first we thought he was cleaning the glass maybe but after he finished messing with the napkins, he walked away, leaving the wine glass on the bar counter, never pouring the wine and sat at a table about 15 feet behind us and started eating. Again, the restaurant is completely empty. The whole time we were there it came off as we were an inconvenience.
About 5-10 minutes later, we still do not have the wine, the glass is still on the back bar counter and he eventually comes over to ask if we want to order food. At this point we’re pretty annoyed so we say no and finish our appetizer. About another 10 minutes go by and he comes back over and I say we want to tab out. I stupidly just handed him my card to tab us out and realized when he hands me the ticket after he ran my card that the tab is well above what I thought it should’ve been based on what we received. Turns out he charged me for the $9 glass of wine that we never received. I always tip above 20% but because he charged us for the wine, we just took it out of the tip.
Like I said, we’ve been here once before and had a good time. I’m not really sure what happened but it seemed like we were inconveniencing the staff the whole time we were there. I highly doubt...
Read moreRecently went for my third visit in 2 years and have decided not to go again. I’ll start by saying that even though the restaurant is in kind of a weird place, the design itself is very nice. The first visit was excellent, I had the vegetarian platter which has a variety of components, all of which were great. The second time (about one year ago) I had the same platter and remember thinking that maybe I had blown up the quality in my mind, for as it was still good, it wasn’t great. This last, most recent visit, has confirmed that the food is simply not as good as it was. The falafels were pretty tasteless, the spanakopita was pretty good, and the hummus tastes like any store bought hummus. My fellow diner’s plate (it was called “uncle” something or other) likewise had disappointing components—namely the chili feta, which was boring and a strange dipping sauce we both believed to be thousand island dressing (or something that tasted very much like it). Finally, the service. No complaints the first two times, but the third time we were essentially ignored (there were only about 4 other tables). Our waitress was on her phone the whole time in the kitchen area and simply forgot to bring us things, as well as take our order—after we asked for a minute to look at the menu when she took our drink order, it was about 10 minutes before we finally managed to catch her as she walked by. She spent the bulk of that time out of sight in the kitchen. She was, while not overtly rude, certainly not friendly. The worst bit was that we had asked for hot sauce with our calamari (which was rubbery and mediocre at best) and she forgot to bring it then disappeared again. My companion went to the kitchen to ask for hot sauce after we waited about 3-4 minutes for her to reappear. She was on her phone. When he asked for sauce he was offered Tabasco or Cholula (which, really, no homemade sauce or chili paste or something?) and when he told her which one she said “ok wait there a minute” then put some in a plastic cup and handed it to him before picking up her phone again. We were sitting perhaps ten feet from the kitchen so this was not some massive inconvenience, but was definitely also a total lapse in customer service.
One final, final, note—sodas are served in cans. Why would you not just have fountain drinks? The fridges detract from the...
