This place is somewhat of a local legend, but unlike some of the other local legends, this one certainly lives up to its hype and will not disappoint! The food is great (the Chicken Angelica and Chicken Champagne, specifically). The price per entree is quite reasonable (and in my opinion, could actually be increased and still be acceptable for the high level of quality you get). I would love to see a veal option on the menu. I haven't personally tried the pizza, but all of the pizzas I have seen around the tables look quite delicious. The deserts (chocolate cake and cheesecake) are a slight step above other typical restaurant deserts, but are not fancy. They are quite fitting for the restaurant, though. They are currently partnered with a macaroon vendor. I did not personally try one, but they looked good and seemed reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is kind of small and open, but has two sides (I think the other side is a bar only, but haven't seen it myself). It's always been clean when I have visited and haven't had any complaints. They could absolutely use more menus! Last time we visited we had to share 3 or 4 menus among our party (which was 20+). Not a big deal really, but did make ordering a little bit more lengthy.
The waitress we had last time could use some training. She was extremely pushy on forcing orders, even to the point that one of our girls strongly felt that she was not allowed to order a salad (she was told that she was too skinny and needed to put some meat on her bones... not exactly a "professional" statement, but was taken in jest). Aside from that, her level of service and attention to detail was great. Seems like maybe she was just trying too hard to promote the special entrees (the brisket entrees, specifically), which I can't exactly fault her on. She did excellent with the large group we had, though.
Samee is an interesting guy, for lack of better phrasing. First off, he does A LOT for his community and should be commended for that, for sure. My first few perceptions of him, however, came from both in and out of his restaurant. He does interact with his patrons and seems genuinely caring of them and ensures that their dining experience is the best he can provide. However, it also seems like the interaction is very specific and cliquish; almost as if he only chooses to interact with patrons he knows/has seen or fits a certain criteria. The 3 times I have visited his establishment, I have seen him making the rounds, but all 3 times he has passed over our table. I know that as a manager/owner of a business, you can't possibly see/talk to EVERYBODY, but when you're passed over on three difference occasions over a few years, it's makes one feel that maybe you don't belong. This is simply a perception so please take it as constructive criticism. Outside of the business, I have seen Samee on two different occasions. Both times he carried himself with a bit of arrogance and was a bit obnoxious. I don't personally have a problem with that sort of attitude, but other people might be put off by it. On both occassions, he was wearing his company shirt so that could easily influence someone's perception of not only him, but of his restaurant as well; especially if the person doesn't know just how much Samee does for the community and how nice/genuine he actually is. First impressions set the stage. As a business owner and somewhat of a local celebrity (or as a representative of ANY company, for that matter), you have to be really careful how you present yourself in a public setting, especially when wearing attire that clearly identifies the place of employment. Again, this is just my perception so please take it as constructive criticism.
Overall, Samee and his restaurant are great. We'll continue to return many times for years to come. To summarize, the areas of improvement I feel could use work are:
7/11/25 After going to this place for 3 years with my family of 6 as well as picking up food after the Gym countless times and adding a good review a few years ago I am now modifying it.
I ordered the same 2 salads that I have ordered for year, (the Sammy salad) with grilled chicken and 2 extra Cesar's salad dressing. I drive back home which is about 8 miles away o called to tell them and they put me thru to someone that said he was a manager after explaining that I received a chicken that had red seasoning and also a red dressing and not what I had ordered many times before, he said he would send replacements and have it delivered. I accepted because neither my wife nor my daughter liked the chicken or the dressing.
Not even 5 minutes later I get a call from someone that basically called with an attitude to tell me he cooked it the chicken and that his son was the one that took my order and he was there next to him when he answered the phone and that he took the order correctly. Basically falling short of calling me a lier. I don't know how someone like his soon took the order correctly when he had major concussion when talking to me while I placed the order and I had to repeat my order about 5 different times because he could no hear me. I told the man who said he was a manager and I guess the cook as well to keep his salads because it sounds like they need it more than me. He basically made a noise and sarcastically said ok and hung up on me.
I hope this incident was worth losing a family of 6 as customers and losing all the to-go orders we normally place because I will never again set foot there, again. This place food, taste and service has diminished year by year. They need to really re-shape the way they make their food and how the treat people when they have a problem with the food they ordered
THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO The so called Manager WHO has written a lie on Google review only to protect himself. There were so many lies on answer I will note all his lies. 1) he didn’t mention the one that took the order was his song according to a recorded call I have as my work phone records all calls including the one with him. 2) I had to repeat my order to his son many times because he could not hear what I was saying. 3) I asked for extra Cesar’s dressing from the word go, he obviously did not hear it. 4) I asked for grilled chicken and this chicken regardless of what he says was Cajun/spicy chicken 5) The dressing was not the one I asked for 6) I called back to tell you about the error I never asked for a Manager 7) when this so called manager got in the phone he was very defensive as he could never had made a mistake 8) you claim I didn’t let you make it right which is wrong you insisted on making it and delivering it we then hung up. 9) not even 5 minutes later someone calked back and if it was the owner as you stated I can see where the attitude the manager had came from because he too was very defensive. 10) because if the attitude the person had that said he made the chicken I told him to keep his lettuce and he said ok and hung up 11) I DONT KNOW WHY YOU SAY YOU HAVE MY ADRESS THE WAY YOU DID IN YOUR COMMENT BUT YES YOU DO AND I AM ALWAYS HOME IF YOU NEED TO DISCUSS ANYTHING.
Thank goodness they are god fearing folks other wise I can imagine how many more lies would be spread. Do they do this to everyone? I for one don’t need to lie over $15 salad, and/or overpriced lettuce. Based on this outcome it seems like you all may need it more than me. We ended up throwing that horrible chicken and dressing away along with the 2 day old lettuce and I went and got my wife and daughter another salad at Luigi’s we’re I was treated professionally and with respect. God Bless and I hope you can sleep at night with...
Read moreI’m torn on how to rate this place. I wanted to fall in love as it seems much of the town has. However, that didn’t happen for us.
Let’s start with the great: we were immediately greeted with a warm welcome (by Samee himself I’m pretty sure). The small dining area (I counted 14 tables) was full so we had to wait a few minutes. They quickly offered us drinks while we waited for which my girls were especially grateful. And they even brought our girls some dough to play with while they waited!
We sat down and got drinks quickly. We ordered kids pizzas and an appetizer. While the food took awhile to come out, the pizzas was great. I’m not sure the “style” you’d call it. I think another reviewer called it a deep pan pizza which fits imo. It was perfectly cooked and had great flavor.
Side note: all the tables have a box of cards that our filled questions to help the table conversation. My kids loved this and we kept up with questions until the food came.
Unfortunately, that’s where the highs of our experience ended.
Our server was friendly-ish, but not particularly helpful. Maybe polite would be a better word. She seemed to be in a bit of a hurry which was understandable as they were busy. But we had to ask what the specials were. And she asked if we were ready to order before we really had a chance to look at the menu.
Our appetizer, the shrimp crustini was pretty good. The spinach in the middle was a bit over salted. And the crustini was more of a bread which I actually really enjoyed. However, some editing could really elevate this dish. Maybe ease up on the salt and and drizzle the shrimp in sauce verses smothering it.
Mh ordered the chicken parmiagiana. It’s a classic dish. And it was good, but didn’t excite either of us. I ordered the mushroom ravioli. It sounded great, but disappointed. Once again, some editing would really help elevate this dish. There was way too much sauce. The raviolis on a plate with a quarter the sauce would be so much better. Once I scraped sauce off my ravioli, it was better but not great. I think some simple tweaking of this dish would make a huge difference. I only had two ravioli. The server asked if I wanted it to go. I said no thank you. She asked if I was sure, and I kind of made a face that said “I really didn’t care for it”. She did not seem to pick up on this. A more seasoned server would have. I don’t begrudge her this. I wasn’t expecting a comp or anything like that. But I do feel that it would be better to recognize when a guest does not love a dish.
So why am I giving 4 stars? Because I see the potential. Because I love the welcoming. Because the pizza was fantastic and is definitely worth coming back for even if the regular plates didn’t wow us. And also because I think Samee is the type of person to read this and take any critiques constructively.
So my advice is to come here for the pizza. Stay for the hospitality. And enjoy the time with your...
