As I approached the Whataburger in Rockwall, Texas on April 29th, I was filled with excitement and anticipation. I had ordered my favorite meal ahead of time using their app and was ready to indulge in some delicious fast food. Little did I know that my experience would leave a bad taste in my mouth, quite literally.
As I pulled into the curbside spot, I felt like a VIP, but that feeling quickly dissipated as time dragged on. 5 minutes turned into 10, and 10 turned into 20. I began to feel like I was waiting for a flight at a busy airport. To pass the time, I even tried to compose a haiku about my Whataburger wait, but my inspiration ran dry after "Waiting for my food. It's been so long, I could grow--" (I'll let you fill in the blank).
Finally, after 35 minutes of waiting, I decided to go inside to inquire about my order. As I walked in, the scent of fresh burgers and fries made my stomach growl even louder. But my hunger was soon replaced by frustration as I realized that my order had not even been started. The staff apologized and promised to expedite my order, but I was left feeling hangry and disappointed.
Ah, I see! So not only was I dealing with a frustrating wait and subpar food, but I was also feeding a family of six after a long day.
As I sat in the car with my hungry family, I could feel the tension rising. My kids were getting restless and my spouse was starting to get grumpy. I tried to distract them with silly jokes and games, but my efforts were in vain. The only thing that could cure our hunger was the promise of a hot and delicious meal from Whataburger.
Unfortunately, our anticipation was met with disappointment as we waited and waited for our order. The kids were getting antsy and my spouse was getting more and more frustrated by the minute. It felt like we were in some sort of culinary purgatory, where our desires were never quite fulfilled.
But being the optimistic person that I am, I tried to make the best of the situation. I turned to my family and joked, "Well, at least we have each other, right?" But my words fell flat as my kids groaned in response.
As I stood there waiting for my food, I couldn't help but notice the decor of the restaurant. It was covered in orange and white stripes, making me feel like I was in a prison uniform. I even joked to myself that I was serving a life sentence for my love of fast food.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, my order was ready. I eagerly took my first bite, only to discover that my burger was overcooked and my fries were soggy. I felt like I had just bitten into disappointment.
In the end, my bad experience at the Whataburger in Rockwall taught me a valuable lesson: never underestimate the power of a good fast food joint, but always be prepared for the possibility of a bad experience. And maybe, just maybe, pack a snack for...
Read moreHard to rate this place. It's quite obvious Rockwall has outgrown this location, and, unfortunately there isn't space to really expand. COVID hasn't done this place any favors, especially the drive through, which is consistently spilling out of the tiny property. The main reason for this, is that the staff simply can't keep up with the volume, and so everything just backs up. Basically, just prepare to spend around 30 minutes in the drive through at lunchtime.
I figured I'd try the Curbside pickup option from the app here today. I sat in my car for a awhile, but no one came out to check on the 3 cars that were parked in the designated area. The sign in front of the parking spots says to pick your spot number during check-in...but there is nowhere to do this in the app. The app simply tells you to talk to the person at Curbside...who is absent. So I continued to wait in my car. (At the Royce City location, I have ALWAYS been approached by an employee within 5 minutes of parking).
After 10 minutes of idling, I decided to follow the other customers who also got tired of waiting and go in the store to pick up my order. To my surprise, the flustered staff seemed completely oblivious to the fact they even had a Curbside pick up option. When the manager asked someone to start checking the area, he really didn't seem to know what to do. Really not sure if this boils down to poor training, or just being understaffed. Either way, it's just another hurdle this location has yet to overcome.
The one redeeming quality of this location has to be the food, otherwise I'd be rating it 2 stars. Though it takes forever to arrive, I've really never been disappointed with my order. Even when going pretty far off the basic menu and into specifics, they almost always seem to get it right. If this place could take a page out of Chic-Fil-A's book on streamlining the ordering process, it'd definitely have a higher rating. Until then, you might have to leave for lunch early if you plan to grab...
Read moreNot the best trip to Whataburger I've ever had. I made a curbside pick up order. I arrived before the time it was supposed to be done. I waited over 10 minutes past the time it was supposed to be done. I walked into the store to check on my order and was not greeted or acknowledged. Finally the manager came around the corner and asked if she could help me. I told her I was checking on a mobile order. She took my order off the table in the back and handed it to me. No thank you, no I'm sorry you had to come in and get it. Nothing. I take it to my vehicle and my food is cold. Little black burnt fries in with my cold fries. It looked like I only got a half a patty on my burger. This location use to be really good and I don't know what happened. I am a frequent customer here, but I'm pretty sure I will not be back.
Ok, I know in my last review from 2 years ago I said I wouldn't go back. I decided today 11/01/24 that I would give it a try again. Well nothing has changed. I ordered my food on the app and went to pick it up. I pulled up after the time it was supposed to be ready. I sat in my vehicle for 15 minutes and nobody came out with my food. I went inside to get it and the staff were standing around talking. I asked for my food and they had to find it this time. They gave me my food and I asked if they doo curbside anymore. He said yes, but we're busy. I am definitely done with this place! I hate eating cold food and that is exactly what I got. I wish they would build another one in Rockwall and this one would go out of business. ...
