Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Rome

We went to Applebee’s this past Friday late evening around 7:45 pm and this is absolutely the worst run establishment I have set foot in. There was one older couple ahead of us who got there before we did. We were told it would be 20-25 minutes. We waited 45 minutes watching 10+ tables walk out and the restaurant was almost empty. Multiple people left because of the wait time. At 45 minutes we were told it would be another 15. Keep in mind the couple ahead of us we’re told 20-25 minutes and had waited over an hour at this point. With a screaming toddler (who I would have not made wait) had the staff explained and updated us that the wait time given originally had been very much extended but they failed to do so. At the point of 45 minutes I spoke with the manager Talon. Who was not only incompetent in customer service and how to treat the customers but was also very arrogant and gave me one word answers to why the wait had changed, why we had not been notified, and that we would not be sat even due to his staff’s negligence to communicate with the customers. I asked for the corporate number and he said “make sure you tell them my name, Talon.” Which I replied I would let them know after all my years of working in restaurants this was unbelievably poor management and ran horribly. Talon then replied as I walked out the door to not come back in front of my family as well as all the other customers. We ended up going to Steak ‘n Shake. Who welcomed us warmly and we received much better service there vs this poorly run establishment. I am beyond excited to be giving Applebee's Grill + Bar a solid 5 stars for their immaculate service, amazingly scrumptious food, and delightfully elegant yet homey dining area. The moment I walked through the doors with my wife, I was greeted with a big smile as our waitress sat us down at a booth that felt both comfortable and spacious (and being a slightly bigger man, that alone speaks volumes!!) I was immediately impressed at the technological wonders at our table, and the speed of service was fantastic!! Drinks were immediately served, and appetizers were delivered hot and fresh! As my wife and I chatted over how amazing our service was, our main course was delivered, and we were both all smiles at how wonderful our plates looked and how delicious the food smelled! I ordered the ribs, and I can say with confidence that those ribs were the BEST FREAKIN RIBS I'VE EVER HAD!!! Despite being somewhat full halfway through the course, I couldn't help but finish my plate, and I enjoyed every last bite!! Even more, the atmosphere was so comfortable and satisfying! That was my first time ever going to an Applebee's Grill and I will happily say that it is worth every minute and every single penny!! You cannot go wrong here! It is perfect for nearly any occasion! Worst staff of any restaurant I have ever tried to order from. I looked at the Applebee's menu on line for Rome, GA. I called and ordered three dinners. I ordered a riblet dinner and 2 Cajun chicken penne pasta dinners. When I picked it up, we got the riblet dinner minus the slaw (guess they forgot) and 2 chicken 3 cheese pasta dinners. I called to tell them that the order was wrong and was put on hold for way too long by a very rude lady. I had to hang up and call back. The next call I was informed that the Cajun chicken penne was not on the menu. It is on the Rome, GA Applebee's menu on line. His "fix" was to steam some spinach and put a container of alphretto sauce in the bag. Really.....this is not acceptable. Who wants 3 cheese penne pasta with alfredo sauce added and spinach added. That is not what we ordered. No refund though. They also took the bread back out of the bag from one of the orders. So, no bread for one order. When we pulled up to the curbside to get our "fixed" order, the lady was sitting by the window eating. Very unprofessional. They ultimately gave 1 new order to pasta and left the 2nd order as the 3 cheese. Horrible service. This restaurant needs new staff. Staff that know what is on the menu and will tell the customer if they don't have what they ordered instead of assuming they will take something completely different. Miranda took my order.
