I used to love this place. My family has been customers of Denny's for years - since I was a child! When I became a mom to 4, this was about the only place I could afford to take the whole family out to eat. Its been our go-to diner for forever. This location was absolutely great when we first moved to The 'Berg in 2009...not sure if ownership has since changed or what, but the staff has gone from friendly, warm & accommodating to inattentive, rude & down right scary-aggressive!
The last time (EVER) I was there, my party of 4 was ignored for over an hour! The server was so obviously ignoring our table that the patrons at the NEXT table told her we were trying to get her attention! At that point she took our drink order, only to bring us (after another too-long wait) either the wrong beverage or, in my case, a half cup of cold, stale coffee with grounds floating in the DIRTY mug! The server, a young & bespectacled nubian beauty, then CONTINUED to ignore our attempts to get her attention...UNTIL we got up to leave.
She rushed over & seemed to be contrite for her lack of service, s.o were say back down. We were going to stay & give her another chance at redemption, until SHE INSULTED ME when I said that I was upset over her lack of attention to us up to that point. Her response, verbatim, was, "I'm sorry that YOU are SO RUDE." I actually had to verify with the rest of my party that she had really just said that to me!
At that point, I told her she needed to "comp" us the undrinkable beverages that she had half-a$$ served us in the HOUR that we had been there, waiting TO GIVE HER OUR FOOD ORDER, because we were leaving. As I was exiting the restaurant, I stopped to ask another server, who just happens to have Downs, to tell me our "server's" name. I then saw our "server" come FLYING across the restaurant, running full-tilt down the entire length of the counter - with fury drawn across her face, as though she was planning to physically attack me! I hurried out without getting her name, because I was literally frightened for my safety, due to that young woman's aggressive behavior!
It's too bad that it took her realizing that she was going to be reported to management in order for this server to move with such speed & determination! Had she moved anything close to that swiftly when we were her paying (and GOOD-TIPPING, btw) customers, this never would've happened! As a result, we HAVE NOT and WILL NOT EVER be back!...
Read moreI visit restaurants regularly but most of the time, I go to them for dinner. I don’t like breakfast food that much, but even an anti- morning meal person like myself gets that occasional urge for pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. And when I do, a good choice for food among chain establishments is Denny’s.
I found myself recently at the Rosenberg DPS with my teenager, waiting in line to get her driver’s permit. We had about an hour to wait, so we decided to get a bite to eat and noticed that there was a Denny’s right there, within walking distance. This was one of those rare moments when breakfast sounded good, so we turned in that direction and headed there on foot.
This Denny’s location is clean and since we were there earlier in the day on a Monday, there were few people present. That meant we were seated immediately. The tables were far apart, which meant the restaurant was practicing social distancing and people were safe. And I like that they had a paper menu on the table, but also the ability to easily pull up a menu on your phone, if you felt safer doing it that way.
Since we were here for breakfast, I decided to go with one of my Denny’s favorites, the French Slam. It came with eggs and bacon. They made everything just right and I was more than satisfied overall, especially with the French toast. My kiddo loved her Pumpkin Pancakes too. She said that the hash browns weren’t necessarily the best, but she was still satisfied overall.
The service at this Denny’s was prompt and we were in and out in a short time. We had no problem making our way back to the DPS before our number was called. We both agreed that the service was excellent and the food was good overall. Like I said, I’m not big on breakfast, but I like Denny’s breakfast food and they definitely treated us right on this visit to this location. We will be sure to return the next time we’re in the area and in need of...
Read moreAugust 13th, 2017. Well, where should I begin. My sleep schedule has been pretty messed up lately, so my wife and I decided to go here around 1:30 am. Right after placing our appetizer order of chicken tenders and chips with queso, we knew we were in some trouble. Behind us, we could hear another table discussing how terrible their chicken was. However, I didn't know if they got tenders or grilled. Upon arrival, the chicken looked like the Great ValueTM boneless spicy wings. Well, that didn't stop me from giving it a whirl. Bad move. I had to force my teeth to tear through the meat, unleashing this horrific taste throughout my mouth. I spit the food into a napkin when the waitress approached and asked what was wrong. I immediately tore apart the tender revealing a nasty, greyish dark meat. She took my plate to the cook who, without hesitation, told the waitress the chicken there was old and likely gone bad. (From where we were sitting, you could see and here the cook) After taking back the food, we were brought a new appetizer. Then, on to the main course. My wife ordered the Santa Fe skillet with bacon. It was burned. My wife however, didn't mind and ate it. My food wasn't that bad (Biscuits and gravy with hash browns) After finishing, we went to pay for our food when we discovered that they charged us for the new appetizer which we didn't even eat. (We got cheese sticks that tasted freezer burnt) But here was the kicker, after pointing it out to the person at the front desk, there was a breakdown in communication... he didn't speak English, at least not enough to understand what the problem was. Being frustrated I promptly said to the man "F**k it, I'll just pay it." And that my friends is why if at 1:00 am your considering going out to your local Rosenberg Denny's, just stay home and eat a...
