NOTE It is unusual for me to give bad ratings.

The food was sooo good, I can say that for sure! Very delicious menus, also vegetarian and vegan friendly. For the food, I would rate it more than a 5 if I could! The food will blow you away no matter how little your adventure levels are!

However, unfortantely I had to rate this place a 1 because of how terrible the customer service is. I am not sure how the customer service is like during the day time, but my husband and I went 3 times to this place in the evenings before they close and we experienced bad customer service ALL 3 TIMES.

The first time we went, we understood that we went in 35min before they were closing and we felt bad that workers might have to stay later than their work hours to clean up after us if we dine in. Therefore we decided to get our food "to go" because we wanted to be thoughtful of the employees wanting to go home after a busy day. When we got there, the guy at the dront desk who works evenings looked at us come through the door to his desk, and IGNORED US. He continued sitting there at the desk WHILE WE WERE STANDING and he was looking down at his phone the whole time. We then made it an appoint to get his attention. He then looked up at us and laughed like we had interrupted his time on his phone. We thought he was really rude but the food was good and we decided to come back and not let this bad experience ruin the restaurant for us.

We went in the 2nd time. It was the very same guy ar the desk, this time we went and it was 1 hour and 15 minutes before they close. The VERY SAME GUY treated us rudely while seating us. Our server was shady as well, and this server was the older guy who serves at night. Still, we thought that we wouldnt let this bad experience stop us from supporting the restaurant even though the desk worker was mean.

The third, AND LAST TIME. That was tonight... we came in at 9:12p and they close at 10p. We were excited for the food. THE VERY SAME GUY AGAIN who works at the front desk, saw us walk through the entrance and laughed at us. We then said that we have 2 people and are seating. He then lied to us that they close at 9:30p and that we have to eat very fast before they close and we need to make sure to be quick about it. I then confronted him that they close at 10p according to their website so that's why we are dining in. He laughed at us and then seated us. Again, the older guy was our server and he was extremely shady as well🤷‍♀️

When we went up to go pay, we reported to the owner our experience and he offered us a $5 discount. The owner was nice to us and seemed disappointed about our experience. I told the owner, in front of the older guy who was our server as well, that the food is extremely delicious and I know that the owner is probably a good guy but we're never coming back because of how bad his employees treated us. Those two specific employees, the evening desk worker and food server, are extremely PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE.

Food was very good, owner was polite, but not worth my day being bullied by a stranger that...

Welcome again to...Hong's Honest Food Review. India Palace:

Located by 36 and 35w, it's easy to ignore this restaurant that sits on a frontage road. It doesn't look fancy on the outside. Truth be told, i thought is was going to be like a perkins or denny's.

Came in the door and was quite impressed with the look of the restaurant. It had a dim yellow lighting throughout the dining area. Tableware was very nice. Looked like a date night place.

The service was excellent. They checked up regularly and filled the water every time they came by. They were very pleasant.

The food:

Vegetable Samosa: I love samosas whether it's from a Mediterranean, African, or Indian restaurant. The crust is crispy. The filling was curry potatoe. It was savory and soft. Pretty good samosa. It cam with two sauces. One was a milder, sweeter A1 sauce. The other was like a chimichurri sauce. You could taste the colantro and onion in the blend. Both were good.

Briyoni: Best way to put it, it's like another version of paella. It's as if the rice was cooked in a stew. The rice wasn't dry, and soaked up the curry and spices flavor. I tasted a chutney flavor in the dish. There was shrimp, chicken, and lamb. The chicken was flavorful. Mostly savory but comolented the flavor from the rice. The shrimp had shrimp texture but tasted like the curry stew base. The lamb was awesome. It had that light bitter taste but but had a texture of pork. It mixed very well with the curry and was super tender. It came with a white sauce that almost reminded me a taziki sauce from a gyro but it was served cold with a lot of veggies in it. Naan bread came along with the dish as well. The bottom was ao crispy from being cooked in a brick oven. Then they topped it off with garlic. It was delicious.

For dessert it was a deep fried milk ball smothered in syrup. Very sweet. Texture kind of reminded me of a krispy kreme donut. Not bad.

All together, it was a good new experience with a food i haven't tried before. I would go again. Prices per plate were...

Highly disappointed ! Not a recommendation from my side ! They really need to train their staff on customer handling. Staff (s) are rude and not ready to accept or apologize for mistakes. We were served " bill" even before we started our lunch ( buffet). They asked if we wanted buffet, we said yes, and soon before we could start, our bill was on table - thing to note is that this is not an etiquette or a behavior that we expect unless customer himself/ herself requests for it before finishing the food. It didn't ended up there, we thought to ignore this and to enjoy food and time for which we are spending money, but that didn't seem to go good with them as our "second bill" for same buffet was "again" on our table before we could finish up with our first plate of (buffet) food. This time it was too much and we thought of checking with the staff as this is no where an acceptable behavior and we expect them atleat to understand and acknowledge what they are doing... but to our surprise, the staff was rude, not ready to accept that they did something wrong and started an argument with us. According to him, he was not going to close the restaurant and asking us to walk out so serving bill before starting the lunch ( without being requested by customer) and to serve second bill for same order before finishing up with table was nothing kind of wrong according to him !! A simple appolgy or acknowledgement of mistake could have helped in customer retaintion, but I think they hardly care about this. We simply paid the bill and walked out without using entire buffet and a family time for which we were there ended in disappointment and an experience not to be cherished for any reason. Complete waste of time and money . - High degree staff training recommended for the restaurant and not a recommendation for anyone to be there from my side ! Really rude and misbehaving kind of attitude ! - Food too was just flat in taste and there isn't much variation in menu it's kind of same stuff...

We’ve been coming to India Palace for many years, and while this might sound like a post all about Maria—and in a way, it is—she’s probably the biggest reason we keep coming back. Now, there are plenty of Indian restaurants around, but this location really stands out, and Maria is a big part of that. She’s always smiling and brings such a warm, positive energy that it makes every visit feel special! A lot of places miss the human element and Maria really brings it when she is there! When we first started coming, the food and service were a little inconsistent, but over the past few years, especially with Maria managing things, the place has really stepped up. Even our picky friends, who are hard to impress, were surprised by how great everything was here. Maria always goes the extra mile—whether it’s being super sweet with our kids or making my grandma feel really welcome. One time, my daughter forgot her jacket, and Maria actually held onto it until our next visit! It’s little things like that that show how much she truly cares. And of course, the food is amazing. We prefer the veggie sambusa over the meat one, we did try the meat a few times but the veggie is significantly better and that’s coming from a guy who loves meat! I also almost always order the Chicken Tikka Masala, and it’s consistently delicious—perfectly cooked, full of flavor. My wife likes to try different dishes, and we’ve never been disappointed here. We’ve eaten at plenty of other Indian restaurants, but this one is by far our favorite in terms of food but also service. Plus, they give free refills on tamarind sauce, rice and chai, which is rare since most places charge for anything else. At this point, we don’t just come for the food but for the whole experience that Maria makes so special. If you want great Indian food with service that goes above and beyond, this is the spot!

A gentrified Indian place that serves Indian staples such as tandoori chicken and butter chicken. The tastes cater more to a non-Indian palate, including the spice levels. From an Indian perspective, the food overall is good but not spectacular. It felt like it just missed the mark of being great, which was missed in the details. We ordered chili pakoras and they were good but a little soggy, had they been fried just a minute longer they’d have been great. The side chutneys are fantastic, I must admit. Another appetizer we ordered were vegetable samosas. These were ok but the crust could have been more flavorful. We also ordered chicken makhani, chili chicken, and chicken tikka masala. The butter chicken was very good and the chicken in it tasted fresh. Even the spiciest level was medium at best. The chili chicken tasted funny and really could have been better. The chicken tikka masala was alright as well. The naans were great. We ordered garlic and butter naans. I do have a gripe about the service. It needs improvement. One of our main dish orders was forgotten to be either put in or made, don’t know, so we had to wait for that. All of our dishes came out except one. Another time in the same night we put in an order for a garlic and a butter naan. The garlic naan came but the butter naan didn’t. In fact it didn’t come until we asked about it, and I’m pretty sure it was sitting there and someone forgot to drop it off to our table. The only thing that the waiters remembered semi consistently was to fill our waters. We come here every once in a blue moon. Every time we come in, we remember why don’t come more regularly, sadly.

I will start by saying that the staff here was very kind and very nice and not all aspects of our food were bad. I do not suggest pre ordering as they seem to not put in food orders until you actually arrive anyhow. Since there were about four orders being picked up after mine and it seemed to be common for everyone to be waiting 10 plus minutes I'm assuming this is the case. Unfortunately, my food was very overcooked minus the two side curry's that came with the meal and those were quite good. The naan basket I received for an additional $5 was one piece of naan. The food seemed to be cooked all together which unfortunately made me feel like I was biting into a dog treat when it was supposed to be a lamb dog (see attached photo). The chicken was also sadly overcooked. The spice was also not what I'd expect, I got medium spice which should have any sort of heat and it did not. The flavor profile was still good but not a medium and we love spicy authentic Indian food, I make it at home often. The menu I ordered from also didn't seem to match the updated menu which is misleading. I have been to other locations and this is the only one I've had a bad experience with so unfortunately I will not be back.
