I usually love the food here; but the service tonight was sub par.
I ordered the jasmines favorite and specifically told the waitress that I didn’t want anything with lemon in it, so she mentioned the garlic sauce, which I thought would be ok since I told her I didn’t want anything with lemon. When she brought the dish with the sauce, I ate a little of the sauce and it tasted like it had lemon. When I asked her if it had lemon in it she checked with the kitchen and they said it did; then she told us, my boyfriend and I, that it wouldn’t be on the bill. When the bill came the dish was on the bill so my boyfriend asked about that and the waitress said that the sauce was taken off of the bill. We were confused. On the menu, it appears as though the sauce comes with the dish and is not a side that you get charged for, because I didn’t see it written that way. I then told the waitress again that I was specific in not wanting anything lemon, at all, because I have an allergy. She then spoke to what seemed to be her supervisor or manager, and the supervisor told us that the jasmines favorite dish could be comped for by half, unfortunately, the supervisor changed her story and told us that she spoke to the general manager and told us that they won’t comp the dish at all because I ate it and that I should have said something earlier——when I certainly had. Then she tells us that we can have free dessert, which was nice but neither of us eat desert so it didn’t help at all. My boyfriend at this point was upset about the situation because while we had explained these errors of service to the waitress and the supervisor, they made us feel like it was our fault that they made the mistakes and miscommunications that they made. My boyfriend was upset about this. During this entire ordeal there was a lot of back and forth and the wait staff and management were giving my boyfriend glares and dirty looks, I suspect because he was visibly upset due to the way we were being treated when he wanted to correct their mistakes that we were trying to address. It’s as if they expected us to be nonchalant and pleasant about bad service and mistreatment. All in all it was an incredibly uncomfortable and humiliating experience specifically in regards to...
Read moreAladdin’s Eatery Management,
I used to be a very loyal customer of the McKnight location. I had the pleasure of meeting your store manager Ziena Safi. She was one of the hardest workers I have ever encountered. I came from a background in the restaurant business and not one time that I was at that location was she sitting down or not helping with the kitchen. I was very disappointment to find out that Ziena Safi was let go and after several years of dedication to the Aladdin’s establishment. It seemed very unprofessional the way that was handled. Several of my business connects and I do not come into that establishment due to the misfortunate events that occurred. I write this online because I want everyone to know when they review this establishment that the food is good but the people that run it is just as important. What you have lost was the true face of Aladdin’s eatery. She made the restaurant feel like a family environment and when I was there eating not one customer did not ask for her to say hello. In Pittsburgh when word to mouth is what really makes a business flourish it disappoints me that when I’m asked about your establishment now all I can say is don’t go there. It’s a shame that a place I felt was a part of my community would treat a loyal employee with slander and very misleading practices. In conclusion to events that occurred, I hope anyone that reads this that may think well I don’t know here and why does that matter? I want to eat somewhere were people care and treat their employees with respect and give them the rights that are given to any person who lives in this great country called America. To anyone that can relate to a situation of this manner, I appreciate your time to read this and think twice before going there.
Regards, Loyal Customer...
Read moreWe used to be weekly regulars here until we had 3 terrible dining in experiences and haven't been back since. The last time we went I ordered a beef kafta dish and our waitress brought me out the incorrect order. As she set it down I said "Oh, I think you may have ..." She just walked away and went in the back. I didn't want to be a pain or cause a scene so I decided to wait for her to come back out. So, 15 minutes go by and not a single server has come out from the back. By the time she resurfaces my husband had finished his meal. She didn't ask how our meal was, she just grabbed his plate and then reached for mine to take it away - even though I clearly hadn't touched it. I said "this isn't what I ordered." She snapped back at me "Yes it is!" So I asked for the menu and pointed to what I said to her, it was clearly not what was sitting in front of me. She didn't apologize, but she did say she would go have the cook make it. I waited another 30 minutes for this dish before she came out to tell me it was coming and I said I no longer wanted it. She refused to give me a refund for the meal I didn't get! AND the incorrect item, which cost MORE than what I ordered, was on the bill. So we left enough money for my husband's meal on the table and walked out. There have been other insanely bad experiences with their wait staff but this was the last straw. Haven't been back since and we discourage...
