It’s Not Only About Revenue
It could’ve been really bad! Thank God my Trujillo, Alfaro and Goode family members in Roswell are safe.
Last night, an unfortunate situation unfolded in Roswell, New Mexico. Many people became stranded in businesses, homes, vehicles, and with friends. Some had to make the tough decision to seek higher ground from the roofs of flooded vehicles. My God! What breaks my heart is that my nephew, along with his 5-year-old son, 14-year-old daughter, wife, and seven other families, did just that. They sought refuge at the McDonald’s on Main Street. The fire department, stationed nearby, saw that families were trying to escape the flooding and assessed that the McDonald’s was dry and safe. They even communicated this to the restaurant’s management.
The seven families stayed at the McDonald’s, but at midnight, the management told them they were closing and forced all seven families to leave, which understandably upset the parents who were trying to protect their families. The store manager called the head manager, who was probably at home in a dry, safe location, and received instructions to close the store and evict everyone. As a result, these families, including my nephew, were sent out into the cold, rain, and flooded streets. I pray for the other six families who also had to face the unknown. My nephew had to carry his 5-year-old son on his shoulders through knee- to waist-deep water to find safety as they walked heading south. They eventually reached 2nd Street, where a family member who had to navigate the weather because my family was thrown out into the weather, drove from the base, about five miles away, to rescue them and help get them to safety.
I am deeply disappointed and angry with McDonald’s because they’re probably open this morning, focused on revenue, with no regard for what they did last night by ignoring the Roswell Fire Department’s guidance and abandoning these families. I’m proud to be from Roswell, and as someone who lives in Texas, where many of us travel to and through Roswell, this hits home. The UFO-themed McDonald’s is a popular stop for families with its playground and welcoming atmosphere. But in a time of crisis, when seven families needed refuge, they were kicked out into the cold, wet, and dangerous floodwaters. I can’t understand this, and I believe McDonald’s owes an explanation—not just to the families in Roswell but also to the rest of us who frequent that location during our travels. We stop by on sunny days for Happy Meals, your famous green chile burgers, and to let our kids play, but when help was needed, you locked the doors, kicked us out, and walked away.
Last night, I spent hours worrying about my nephew, his wife, their two children, and the other families who sought safety at that McDonald’s. I’m extremely disappointed in McDonald’s in Roswell, New Mexico, but I am grateful to the Roswell Fire Department for their work and support. This terrible situation affected many people I know, including my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister, nieces, nephews, other families, and friends, who also got stranded but are safe this morning. I pray for all the families in Roswell affected by the flooding. McDonald’s, you must do better! : sharing this not my experience but what they did to families...
Read moreThis mcdonalds is great for the tourism aspect of town but the employees just aren't it. I've gone there for various reasons and it's more often than not that there's some issue or conflict. In the drive thru, I've had numerous times where the order taker misheard an item. I get it, most fast food headsets are trashy and difficult to use. Though when I repeat and hear the correct version from the employee, I assume they are working on changing the mistake while I go to the window. The mistake is never fixed and has lead to me getting up charged for sizes I did not want. This location is often likely to forget sauces in the bag and if the managers are the ones presenting at the window, they get snarky when you ask to confirm the sauces are there. I've also experienced a manager being very snarky and rude to an employee at the window when a mix up happened. Mix up happens occasionally and it is not right for a manager to tell an employee off or argue with them in front of customers. For my issues inside, there are far less. Though if you do a mobile order or your a door dasher, expect to be ignored by multiple employees. I've noticed that at this location, only the employee working on the doordash or mobile orders will acknowledge you. I've made eye contact even with employees as they go back to the counter and they don't offer assistance or ask if I've already been helped (which in most cases I have not been helped). Though one thing I will give this location is that their cleanliness is significantly better than the North location by walmart. I've noticed at the other location that they use one spoon all day for mixed ice drinks (ice coffees and espressos) that is just left on the counter where flies can land on all day. I have not noticed this at this location. The other location, it's also easy to see employees touching their phones with their gloves and then putting their phones and starting an order without changing their gloves. I have not noticed this at the UFO location. The third thing I've noticed at the other one, especially from management, is that they eat on the floor and straight from the nugget trays, which opens for tons of cross contamination. I have not observed this behavior at this location either. Not seeing these three things at this location does make it my preferred location compared to the north location based on cleanliness in regards of health and safety. I much rather take poor behavior from employees than poor health and safety...
Read moreDo not ever go here I'm revising my old post for this exact reason they say that they're hiring but when you go to apply they always give you some excuse on why they're not they're not putting your application through to get some food and when I showed up they had closed the store at 11:00 cuz they were short-staffed well it'd be nice to know that ahead of time and now I'm fighting with customer service trying to get my $5 back from the food that I ordered I know it ain't much but still when you're on minimum wage and you're working your butt off every dollar counts this is kind of aggravating and the lady was not very helpful behind the speaker she said that we're sorry that were closed and that the app should have notified you well I came here at Zach 11:00 and I have to play some of my order for now good luck to you anybody who comes here have a wonderful day, food is decent customer service not so much but if you have any type of custom order good luck cuz it took them three times to get my burger right I had gotten a double Big Mac with light sauce extra pickles cheese and no onions and no lettuce the first time I got my sandwich they had just give me a normal Big Mac I took it back to them and the guy rang it up again and this time I got a double Big Mac with extra sauce and lettuce and no pickles took him I took it back up to him and he finally got it right with the original order so there's that to continue with but other than that it's not a bad place and goes for all the McDonald's down here in Roswell they do not know how to follow custom order...
