Visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with my son, SiL and niblings. We ordered a cheese quesadilla, one Carne Asada, one Al pastor, steak nachos, 2 orders of birria tacos (corn & flour) and one shrimp taco plus drinks. Quite a bit of food and it was a great price until we added in fountain drinks ($3+). We dined in and were brought out our food quickly. The dining area and unisex bathrooms were clean. The atmosphere is great, inviting with lively music being played. The standouts were the al pastor taco and beef birria taco (which I combined with the cheese quesadilla). And the hot green salsa. My family enjoyed it but I wanted the shrimp & steak to be better - both were unfortunately overcooked and meat wasn’t seasoned enough for my taste. Though I didn’t find the food outstanding it’s worth a return visit to try the birria quesadilla. Updated: returned again (2days later) to get takeout for lunch. Ordered the exact same items - the Al pastor pork and fried shrimp remain the best. Steak was more seasoned than last time so that’s a plus.

Came here on a whim after seeing it driving on Woodward. Maria is one of the co-owners and is so warm and kind. Her husband makes the food based off recipes from his grandparents. Pros include super well balanced guacamole, which has the perfect combination of salt, lime and consistency of the avocados. I also had the birria quesadillas on flour tortilla. It has to be the best birria I’ve had in southeastern Michigan, and it’s not overly oily, which is rare and a pleasant surprise! Lastly, I had a campechamo taco (asada and chorizo) and this was also so well done. The meat was tender, had crisp edges and the corn tortilla was nice and fresh. It’s a very pleasant addition to the area and easy to access along the Woodward corridor. Definitely give them a visit if given the chance. You won’t regret it!

So I see alot of people making this mistake that birria tacos automatically come with cheese and they dont, it's quesabirria that does it almost made the same mistake... smh. Luckily it is on the menu I should know as I am often in southwest detroit ordering quesabirria. I ordered that along with a steak burrito, and a horchata. The birria was flavorful even better with the consume, and the cheese almost soaked out so good. Burrito was ok it was missing a little something of flavor but I hit it with the consume and Verde sauce which was free, bam changed the game. I enjoyed the horchata as well I beleive they make them in house I should have gotten some ice and a cup. But it's Def on my stop list if I'm out here on the dream cruise.

I've visited this place a couple of times now, and let me tell you - it's absolutely fantastic. The food is great, but the people working there are even better. I've tried chorizo tacos (on flour tortillas), a chicken quesadilla, a steak quesadilla, and a chicken bowl. If you're unaware, this is their third location with the others being in Wyandotte and Farmington. This was my first time visiting any of their locations. If you ever visited this place as pops hani shop, the experience will be very familiar. The layout inside is unchanged. Ordering process is the same - it's a "fast-casual" style where you order at a counter, then sit and wait to be served your food. They even serve everything on quarter sheet pans like pops did. Service time was pretty quick. I went in around 4pm. I placed my order immediately. I didn't time exactly how long it took to receive my food, but it was definitely a reasonable time frame. I'd guess I was waiting no more than a few minutes. The chorizo definitely has a bit more of a kick to it than other taco places I've tried. However, as someone who isn't much of a spicy food eater, I didn't find it to be too spicy either. It was also far less greasy than others I've tried, a much appreciated change. I enjoyed it. I won't give it any sort of rating/ranking as I'm definitely not qualified to do that. Would I order it again? Probably. I still have numerous of other meat options still to try before I can say if I'd choose it over their other options though. My only complaint would be that there was a little inconsistency between the tacos. One definitely seemed to have a bit more meat than the other. However, I still thought both had appropriate amounts of filling, so it's really just me being nitpicky I guess. The quesadillas came out piping hot. The chicken was great. The steak was even better! I enjoyed them a bit more than the tacos honestly, although I generally prefer a quesadilla to tacos anyway. Don't expect this to be like your typical texmex quesadilla though, it is not made with a giant tortilla. If I were going back, I'd choose the quesadillas over the tacos and probably order two, maaaaybe three if I was particularly hungry that day. This is something I would definitely order again. Rice and beans were also solid. Be warned, the beans aren't smooth/blended like a lot of Mexican restaurants. They're still in normal bean shapes. Nothing wrong with that at all. They still taste great. Just sharing as a heads up. Were they my favorite beans I've had at a Mexican restaurant? No, but that certainly doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them. Would I get them again? Definitely. As for the rice - not a ton to be said. I can't say I like this rice significantly more or less than any other places I've tried. I would order it again. They also kept the Brix soda fountain that Pops had. There's a few (3 I believe) Pepsi products on it and the rest are Brix. I really liked the Root Beer and Orange Cream. I live close enough that I can walk here if I want to, and I'm glad to finally have a taco place so close by. I usually order delivery when eating out these days and find that most Mexican / tacos don't really transport well. I hope they do well and stick around. I would definitely recommend stopping by. They're also priced right on par with other more authentic Mexican/taco options in the area, and they're far cheaper than any of the more "trendy" options...

A gem on Woodward—Taco Bros nails the customer experience.

We stopped into Taco Bros on a whim Thursday, July 24th, and I’m glad we did. My wife and I were actually on our way to a different spot further up Woodward when the skies turned ominous. Just as we hit 14 Mile, something said “make that left.” We ducked down a side street, looped back around—and landed right in the parking lot of Taco Bros. We’d driven past it dozens of times, but this was our first visit.

From the moment we walked in, the front counter team acknowledged us right away—which, as a business owner myself, is a huge detail. They were kind, patient, and professional. I mentioned it was our first time, and the young woman behind the counter smiled and said, “Take your time, let me know if you have any questions,” then gave us space to explore the menu. That kind of balance—being attentive without being pushy—is rare.

I ordered the shrimp tacos (fire 🔥), and my wife had the chicken quesadilla. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly—right as the downpour hit. It ended up being the perfect place to wait out the storm.

Then Maria came out to check on us—and this is where the experience went from good to great. She greeted us like we were old friends, genuinely listened to our little “how-we-ended-up-here” story, and laughed along with us. You could tell she cared. She even offered us a dessert on the house. I declined at first—not because I wasn’t tempted, but because I already had a to-go order in mind. Without missing a beat, Maria took my to-go order right at the table. No rush, no pressure—just real, personal service.

And then… she offered the churro again. And boy oh boy—I’m thankful she did. That churro was ridiculously good. Warm, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and exactly what I didn’t know I needed.

Later I realized I forgot to add chips and salsa to my to-go order. I caught Maria mid-shift and asked if she could tack them on. Without hesitation, she smiled and said, “I’m on it.” When I got to the register—everything was packed, ready, and exactly as promised.

In a world where everybody’s trying to sell you something, Taco Bros gets it right. Yes, the food is solid. But what really sets them apart is the heart behind the counter. The team cares. They pay attention. And they make you feel like you're more than just another transaction.

Shoutout to Maria and the entire Taco Bros crew—your service is what people remember. We’ll...

I have had toco bros 2 first time was at the west Bloomfield location and they were not bad but this location was the completely opposite it was no one In the restaurant when I walked in so this lady took my order and her customer service was not good at all I order the taco dinner/meal and it come with 3 flour tortillas you get two sides I got double rice and it don’t come with cheese if you get cheese on the taco it’s a up charges never heard of that but ok. So the food did come out quick and it was hot I will give them that.when I open my food up it was 3 small tacos and the chicken was minced it was not one whole piece of chicken and they only gave me one small cup of salsa they had other sauces and I asked her could I get a spicy mayo she said I had to pay a dollar for a tiny cup of it so I ended up buying one and I needed another salsa she charged me for that as well so I asked do my meal come with a drink she said no so I asked for a cup so I can get some water she handed me the smallest cup she had I told her come on now can I get a regular size cup she did not want to give it to me I guess she thought I was going to put soda or juice in it she watched me the whole time. I made it back to eat my food it was not good at all the rice had no flavor neither did the tacos I had to put salt and pepper over everything every sauce I had on the rice and Tacos for it to have some type of flavor If you like bland food this is the place for you maybe it was just this location but I will never come to this...
