Condado may be a chain, but in downtown Royal Oak, they are a strong pillar of the restaurant community. Even when they're busy, you're usually able to grab a spot, and they're attentive, quick, and the food's always on point. The food always comes out fast and fresh. I recommend building your own bowl and seeing just how many options you can get. It's impressive, and way more portion size than competitors (eat your heart out, Chipotle). The value for how much food you get is crazy! My favorite thing to add is their Thai chili tofu. It's unlike any other addable protein you can get at other taco/burrito spots. It's got such a crazy profile... you gotta try it. They also have so many different drink and cocktail selections. Their margaritas are incredible, and they usually have seasonal flavors and specials too. And you can get a sampler to try em all out in one go. Plus they've got classic rotational liquors and beers you can add. But my favorite thing to get? Is honestly just a classic diet Mountain Dew. And you know they got that on draft!!! I'd like to give a shoutout to the bartender/server Bailey, too, who's usually working behind the bar. I've been served by her a handful of times, and she's really attentive, kind, and jovial. She makes a mean margarita and keeps the diet Mountain Dew flowing. Feels good to know that the people working there are enjoying their lives, Condado seems to be doing something right. Also, they hired a lot of local Detroit area artists to do the murals scattered throughout the restaurant. It feels great to see them give back to the community in that way. And they did a bang up job, too. For parking, I'd recommend parking at the Center St Garage behind it - it's free for two hours, and then 75c each...
Read moreIt is not too often that I go out for tacos. I am happy that I did here at Condado! The five tacos I tried here were nothing but flavorful and unlike any taco I have had before. Cali Green Ooey-Gooey Lucy's Fire El Santro Up in Smoke Traditional Guacamole: The guacamole itself was delicious; however, I was not a fan of the giant pieces of purple onion on top. It should have been more finely and evenly chopped.
Although the tacos here are incredibly delicious, I cannot give Condado a 5/5 star review because of two reasons. The missing 1/5 star are a result of the poor lighting and the menu layout. The restaurant's lighting is way too dim. The restaurant has an upbeat and lively atmosphere to it; the extremely dim lighting contradicts the vibes here. Honestly, I should not have to turn on the flash on my camera in order to take a photo of food at a restaurant (ever). The menu layout is just poorly formatted. From the very second I received the menu, my instant reaction was one that questioned why the menu was laid out the way it was. It could have better presentation and designed in a way that is easier to follow. I would recommend that management and owners of the restaurant take time to better design their menu's appearance.
I will end this review by also recommending Condado to any person who desires flavorful tacos. Condado is a restaurant that I plan to...
Read moreGood food but it’s 90% chance your food will be wrong. Every single time I order, directions aren’t followed or something I didn’t order is in my taco, queso etc. It’s very simple to order and to add notes and what not but it’s pointless if the kitchen doesn’t read them. I usually get the smoked cheddar queso with no pico and no beef but 90% of the time, there will be beef and pico in there. And it says clearly on the ticket no beef or pico. I’ll order 3 tacos with beef, lettuce, tomato, etc but one without tomato and they all will be the same. These are small things, yes and usually I don’t complain but after a while it’s annoying and frustrating. Especially with the queso, it’s very clear what I asked for and simple to do but it’s almost never done. And then, the serving sizes are very inconsistent. I ordered a full size queso just for it to be a half full; when I asked is that normal I was given a uninterested nod. Maybe not a huge deal but if I’m paying 10 dollars for a half cup of queso when I ordered full, it’s a rip off.
Overall, it’s a good place and quick service but the lack of following directions and inconsistency is ridiculous and should be addressed. And this is at...
