Food Allergies Need to be Taken Seriously.
Its 2019, folks. Nobody has the right to shove a food allergy aside with access to information about said allergies and safe ways to prepare foods. Not to mention, most departments of health require allergen-safe cross-contamination procedures.
Evidently everyone except IHOP.
I'm allergic to pork and pork by-products, including bacon grease, all pork items, and even medicines made from pork. I explained to my waitress that I'm allergic to pork before ever ordering and she said that was fine. I know they go through a lot of bacon and sausage, and wanted to make sure my dinner wasn't going to hurt me. I order turkey bacon and go about my life.
My food comes out, my bacon looks way too greasy to be turkey. I taste just a bite, and it tastes like regular bacon. I double check with my waitress, and she swears it's fine, that they season the turkey to taste like bacon.
Except they don't. I've been throwing up for the last 3 hours, and have hives all over my stomach and chest.
I called and asked for a manager. At this point I'm just frustrated about being sick after being assured my food was safe to eat. I explained every single thing to the manager, and even stated that they were lucky I dont react more violently than puking and a rash, both of which are easily taken care of at home.
He was incredibly apologetic. He remembered my friends and I coming in for dinner (he was floor walking while we were in), and managed to find the waitress we had. She told him she didnt think a pork allergy was a big deal because shed never heard of it before.
The manager came back on the line, apologizing more and more. He said their protocol is to alert a manager to the allergy so the manager can ensure the food is cooked properly, without a chance of cross-contamination. The waitress had completely ignored protocol, and now I'm suffering as a result.
The manager offered to do anything he could to remedy the situation. I didnt call to get anyone in trouble, but to warn them that people have some funky allergies that the waitstaff may not be familiar with. I didnt want anything, just a bit of recognition for food allergies.
Long story short, IHOP could have killed someone because their waitstaff wasn't considerate at all. They were lucky they had me instead of someone who would go into anaphylaxis.
Aside from all of this, my food tasted great, my pancakes were amazing, and my friends all enjoyed their meals. Just, stress your food allergies, and ask for a manager if theres any doubt your waitstaff didnt understand...
Read moreFood was awful and more expensive than what I've paid for a delicious meal at Applebee's on past occasions . This was my very first experience ever eating at an iHop , and to say I was not impressed would be an understatement. I thought iHop was suppose to be famous for its pancakes , but in my opinion , the pancakes were dry and flaky , I also got bananas and strawberries on mine , the strawberries , were mushy and gross , no where close to being fresh . My omelette made me sick , my bf's burger was overly cooked and very dry as well . We paid $28+ dollars for just us too . We took our left overs with us , just bc after paying that much , which we did NOT EXPECT at a restaurant that could only be described as a run down diner , but we never even ate them . I couldn't stomach to try to eat any of it again . I will NEVER visit an iHOP , no matter the location , ever again . I was so excited bc I am a pancake lover and have always wanted to go after seeing the commercials of the never ending pancake stacks when I was younger , but I was so extremely disappointed . I've never been so dissatisfied by anything in my life . This review is 100% honest . I NEVER POST REVIEWS ON ANYTHING , good or bad , so the fact that this place was upsetting enough to prompt an online review from me , says all that needs to be said...
Read moreArrived at IHOP 2:30 am. Seen workers outside smoking. Waitress got our drinks and took our order. Sat for over an hour waiting for food. Customers that came in after us received food. (One couple offered to share their food with us). Server came out saying the manager was going to cook our food because the cook got overwhelmed. (That overwhelmed cook had no problems smoking those cigarettes). The pancakes had something crunchy and black in them. The bacon wasn’t cooked thoroughly. The eggs and hashbrowns were cold. One of the girls in the group said her ham smelled funny. The waitress picked up a piece of the bacon took a bite then said it tastes fine to me. We were told by the server we would get a discount on the meals.( No discount was given. I paid $10.75 for a meal that wasn’t worth $2.00. I will tell everyone I know about the lousy service that IHOP provided to me and my friends. I suggest changes be made on the late night shift.
The Ashland location of IHOP was NOT too busy for us to be treated the...
