Fika was such a delight! The kaffe latte and matcha latte were delicious - honestly the best coffee I've had in a while! But the real stars of the show were the baked goods!

We also ordered the breakfast sandwich (without meat), Norwegian toast, cardamom bun, focaccia (shishito peppers and sweet corn), and a marzipan pear cake.

The breakfast sando was so good - the biscuit was just the right size so it wasn't dry, and the spread they put on it is so tasty. The Norwegian toast was just the right balance of sweetness. The focaccia was so stinking good! The perfect height and texture with the perfect hit of flaky salt on top.

And the main reason we trekked 50 minutes first thing in the morning? The cardamom buns. We were so excited to find a place making them, and they did NOT disappoint! The cardamom flavor sang, and the texture was perfection. I'm the past we tried making them ourselves, and they were nothing next to these. We even half joked about how we'd pay $100 and sign an NDA for the recipe. They are that good.

Yes, we had a little wait. And we got there early so luckily they still had everything we wanted to try. I can understand how long waits and sold out items can be frustrating. But I honestly think it's all worth it. Give them a try. It's probably a good thing we're 50min away, or we'd likely be here every weekend.

Thank you for a...

The good - the drinks, merch, and vibes are all very good.

The meh - the food. I've had at least a dozen pastries over 4 visits over the past 18 months and theyve all been solidly "fine". Haven't had anything I'd call bad, haven't had anything I'd call good. They get some credit for trying interesting combinations of flavors, but they're typically lacking much actual courage. The flavors they combine are all very subdued so as not to be opinionated. Think "orange pastry with a hint of cardamom called an orange cardamom brioche" sort of thing.

The bad - the wait and the service. Expect to spend an hour in line. Expect the staff to come out at least 2-3 times to mark the things you've been waiting for "sold out". Expect your groans to be met by "come back earlier on another day if you want to get one". Experience at the counter is typically fine. Not rude or anything.

Overall I think it's fine and worth stopping by if you happen to be driving past and see them without a line and with...

Have been to Fika 4-5 times this spring so far and can say that it is truly a hidden gem in Saco and absolutely amazing!!! I have tried many different things and found some that I am obsessed with! The sausage hand pie is to die for. Not too heavy but still perfect for a hearty breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was a bit too heavy for me, all though it was amazing! Feels like a true authentic taste of Scandinavian culture. Every single pastry or bakes good is phenomenal! Everything is so different so you need to try them all! The atmosphere is an adorable shack with just a window to walk up to. It gets busy so get there early and line up! The staff (I think it’s just the two owners?) every single time are so friendly, it is rare to find such friendly service these days. They are always kind and smiling. I have not tried any drinks or coffee yet but that’s next on my list! I highly recommend checking this spot out. It is not your everyday donut / pastry bakery, it is...

Fika is a delicious Scandinavian bakery run by a former chef of the now closed bakery and cafe Jackrabbit. Their pastries are delicious and they frequently change up their offerings. Favorite pastries are the semlas and cardamon buns. They sell out of pastries early on a busy day. They also serve delicious biscuit sandwiches. I go frequently, the downside is the bakery is a little shack and there is limited seating (outside only), making it more of a pick up and go kind of place.

Fika is a hidden Swedish gem in Saco, Maine! We ordered a cappuccino, iced latte, the Kanelbullar and Kardemummabullar pastries. The Kardemummabullar is so fresh and delish with a hint of cardamom. The Kanelbullar was also just as good and fresh! We got there on the earlier side since there was a line by the time we left. The coffee was really great and a perfect pairing with the pastries. We sat outside at the picnic table with our puppy and it was a nice spot for a quick fika.
