Golden Rooster — Restaurant in Saco

Good food, but every time I order here it's terrible service. We tried to just ignore it and returned many, many times. Their breakfast food is great! My last order was done on DoorDash, and the restaurant "forgot to update their prices", so they called after trying to charge my card to the new amount-without asking me. Their was an issue with them making the adjustment, and my credit card wasn't allowing it to go through. (Mind you, I had already paid for all my food via DoorDash at the rates they have published, and everything had gone through without a problem). The woman on the phone told me, "Maybe you don't have enough funds on your card? I don't know." I was just confused and stated maybe it was due to them trying to make an adjustment, that could be the reason it wasn't going through. She said she'd call DoorDash and let me know. I received a message letting me know they fixed it, and charged me the correct amount. Now, the price is not the issue here. We would have ordered the food either way, but how is it okay to attempt to charge my card more WITHOUT ASKING/CALLING because your business hasn't updated their prices on DoorDash. Just a trashy thing to do. This will be our last time here...

The food here was good. It came out fresh and hot and was very tasty with good portions for the price. The first time we went was on the weekend and we sat outside. It had cute vibes though it is close to the emergency service stations so several times during our meal, cars went by with sirens going and it was quite loud. The rest of the time was quiet and enjoyable.

The first time we visited the service was really friendly and professional.

The second time we went it was a younger waitress who didn't get our order written down correctly and when we got our food and it was wrong, she seemed to have very little interest in trying to make sure that it was corrected. She had us swap our eggs to different plates as opposed to taking it back and correcting her mistake. She just kind of stared at us like she was lost or disinterested. Not a great impression.

Just such a night and day experience. We went back to eat because we enjoyed ourselves so much the first time. But if our second visit had been our first, we wouldn't have gone back. Pics are from the...
