My Sister and I arrived on a Sunday Afternoon at about 2PM following an appointment. The menu is a bit overwhelming as it is a large chalkboard that covers the primary service wall behind the register and extends to the right wall. She ordered the California Crepe’ and I opted for the Denver Crepe’. We added a side of bacon and the Raspberry Blintz. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We also ordered the Café Mochas’, based upon their suggestion.
My Denver Crepe’ was not exactly amazing, yet it was very good in comparison to other Crepe’ shops I have encountered. I tried my Sister’s California Crepe’ and it was amazing, filled with a cornucopia of flavorful ingredients. I think it was the sun dried tomatoes that put it over the top. Both of the Mochas were a perfect touch to late brunch, topped with real whipped crème’ and dusted with coco powder.
I was fortunate enough to grow up with a German step-mother who loved to bake. She did many French and German pastries including Crepe’s. Many Americans order something sweet and expect it to be syrupy sweet and European pastries are not that sweet. The Raspberry Blintz was done perfectly; balancing the mild Raspberry sweetness with the acid in the Applesauce prevailed to serve as a great combination. Mrs. Von Wildanrendt would have been proud; “Das ist sehr gut!”
In conclusion, we are coming back as soon as we can. If you like to people watch, the outdoor dining area is the perfect spot, as there is plenty of foot traffic going by. When we went, it was seat yourself after you order. They will bring the ordered drinks and food to you, yet if you want water, there is a variety to choose from. Located to the right of the cashiers area is a small bar with regular coffee and Mint, Cucumber, Plain and Orange water to choose from. I hope those of you reading this review have the quiet and quaint experience that my sister and I had. It was a very nice break from the monotony of the previous week, in...
Read moreMy partner and I drove from a different city to come here for some good crepes but our experience was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. When we first ordered, the person taking our order was really rude and didn’t want to answer any of my questions even though both my partner and I both have dietary restrictions. When we sat down there was nasty stuff all over the windows that looked like it had been sitting on there for weeks. There was a used napkin I had to move myself while the server stood 2 feet away on her phone. The bowl of fruit I ordered in place of potatoes (which cost $3 extra to substitute) was COVERED in sugar and when I explained that I was diabetic and couldn’t have the sugar she seemed super annoyed at my request for a new bowl of fruit. Then I asked for plain soy milk for my coffee and it was sweetened which, again, I couldn’t have. The onions in my crepe weren’t cooked, and the English muffin in my partners Benedict was so stale it was almost impossible to eat or even cut with a knife. The whole place was so dirty and there were like 6 servers who literally just stood around not cleaning a thing. I don’t even want to explain the bathroom experience it was so bad. I’m not sure if we came on a bad week or something but based on the lackluster customer service, the inattention to dietary restrictions, and the cleanliness, there’s no way we would...
Read moreThe location is absolutely amazing and menu size is pretty big. As big as the menu is, this leaves the kitchen team the responsibility to deliver properly both timing and temperature. As far as the beverage, they delivered very well. Based on my first experience which wasn't very well and more recent experience in which made up for it, this place is alright. My first experiance was a date night that didn't go well as far as that food that was served, a supposed hot dish, it was luke warm. The sugars, water And coffee wasnt maintained and restocked, leaving customers as well as myself waiting and having to ask the very busy staff. The service was good, staff was kind and the restaurant was clean. My recent experiance was early in the morning. This 2nd experiance made me realize that if people's experiences was like my first up to this day would not be good. This place is not getting the volume and proper food preperation this place deserves based simply from its location. It should be a hit early in the morning when the coffee is fresh with early morning midtown workers and seniors in the surrounding area. Definitely a place people should give a second chance, I know I did and will be returning for the scenery and good coffee. In hopes the food is made and delivered by the chefs properly. More importantly the chance for a...
