I’m really really not the type to write negative reviews but people need the heads up, or the Hyatt needs to step it up with this location. For charging as much as they do and speaking so highly of this hotel myself and my partner were unfortunately really disappointed with this stay.
When getting checked in there’s two lines to check in. Neither of the front desk ladies acknowledged us until they had helped 4 different groups of people all of which arrived after us which was odd. When we were called to the desk the conversation was:
“Name” “ID & Card” “Okay you’ll be in room 822”
I wish I was joking. No eye contact no greeting no customer service. And I wish I had her name because in what world does that fly.
We get to our room and it stinks like someone had tried to cover us the smell of smoking. The room itself was pretty gross. Stained carpet and furniture. I paid extra for a “view” which I now definitely don’t recommend. There was a window in the corner of the room, when I opened the blinds a massive wasp flew out. Super cozy & comforting. (I should have paid better attention to the reviews because multiple other people reported leaving with bug bites obviously this is a continuous problem for this location.)
We were able to get it out the window but quickly noticed the pile of dead wasps and other dead bugs in that area of the room. Neat.
The bed was fine. I didn’t check for bed bugs because I didn’t have the heart to know anymore.
The bathroom was also in rough shape. The counters, shower, floor and any other surface you can imagine had finger print marks and streaks of grease. The shower had a dark mold growing on the tile. The refillable soap dispensers were all empty except for the conditioner. There was hair everywhere and nail clippings. Looked like it hadn’t had a good clean in at least a few months. A few people in other reviews reported similar issues. Weird that’s it’s still yet to be addressed.
I’ve been in 2 star or less hotels in the past and it was fine because at least they were self aware it was weird to be smacked in the face with this when this particular facility parades around as something greater than that.
Since it was impossible to get into any of the restaurants in the hotel we had dinner at a mexican restaurant within walking distance that was great. We came back to the hotel after our event and thought it’s be nice to have a nightcap. The patio restaurant was packed with people so we went to the bar section is Dawson’s the steakhouse in the hotel. There were three bartenders. Only one was bartending. One kept disappearing into the kitchen and the other looked sickly green. The main bartender kept checking in on him but he kept disappearing I’d imagine to get sick then would come back to prep limes and other fruit for drinks. No gloves to be seen haha. Our drinks were okay and overpriced which was expected since it was a steakhouse bar. We asked for our check which didn’t get rung up for 45ish minutes after. The bartender was apologetic for forgetting us. Pretty understandable seeing as they were that shorthanded for a Saturday night. On checkout the lady who helped us check out thankfully was less rude. We were grateful to be gone. I paid the full charge. However I got charged an additional $16 last night @ 11:48 and have yet to receive a receipt or any notice on the reason for that charge. Overall would recommend any other surrounding hotel...
Read moreI stayed here as a Hyatt Globalist member. Overall, I thought my experience was just okay. Out of all the Hyatt Regency I’ve been to within California and globally, I think this is one of the more underwhelming ones.
The rooms felt dated. We had a suite but the living room / kitchen area had little natural lighting and so was dark during the day. The carpet, the sofa, the furniture, all could’ve used an upgrade.
The front desk service felt impersonal. Not particularly kind or accommodating. They’re also very hard to reach. I called from my room three times at 2AM and they did not pick up the phone at all. I called Sunday around noon to check out and they didn’t answer. The cleaner never cleaned our room despite us making sure our “do not disturb” sign was not on the door and being away from 9AM - 3PM. Maybe we had to explicitly tell the desk we wanted our room cleaned? Other Hyatts I’ve been to would text me every day asking if I wanted a clean.
The amenities were fine, the pool is not large but looks quite nice because of the matching striped pool chairs. The gym is oddly not inside the hotel and requires guests to exit the hotel and walk around the corner to a separate entrance. The gym is dark and dated as well, with basic treadmills and machines.
The globalist lounge was small with super loud air conditioning. I found it difficult to work out of it during the day. The alcohol in here is not free and the food/snack options are extremely limited because the food serving area is just so small. The hours are really limited with a good portion of the day being closed for cleaning. I also encountered it not being open during expected opening hours. On top of that, there’s something wrong with the door because I had to go down to the front desk 2 times to get a key that works to scan inside the lounge since they told me their normal room keys are broken and can’t be connected to the lounge. That, or the front desk didn’t know how to program the keys effectively.
I noticed that this Hyatt hosts a lot of conferences, so if you’re here on a weekend, there’s a high chance that the hotel common areas will be very crowded and the staff very overwhelmed.
I give it a 3 stars as a hotel, but this is a 2 stars for the Hyatt...
Read moreMy gracious wife and I had the great pleasure of staying at this hotel from 8/12- 8/14.The Front Desk staff were very professional and cordial at the same time. *You receive two chilled metal bottles of water after checking in. They made my wife and I feel welcome and 'special'. We resided on the 11th floor, which provided us with a good view out the window overlooking the park across the street. Now the elevator is a little tricky to operate which provided lot of comedy for those whom used it for the first, second and third time. This ain't a" push a button going up type." The suite was spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom with [ 2 matching white bathrobes with Hyatt Regency monograms] hanging in its closet. There were a lot of people checking into the hotel during our stay[ a Teachers Convention] according to one of the Valets. Greg [Front desk] and the Valet crew were very easy to converse with. They were the ones to tell my wife and I about a great restaurant behind the hotel[ Sushi Paradise]. The hotel has some great restaurants ,too. We had the opportunity to partake of breakfast in Vines: A bowl of Oatmeal " a nice size bowl" at that. You get a bowl of sliced strawberries/ blue berries / blackberries/smaller side dishes of :cinnamon, raisins, walnuts to add to your oatmeal which makes for a " very healthy dish " per our awesome waitress. We also had the opportunity to eat breakfast in the Members Lounge on the 12th floor which had various seating outside on its rooftop deck. The breakfast was very good and fresh also. No complaints here. I can't forget the gracious Housekeeping staff who were always checking on us or just speaking to us in the hallways. Stores and restaurants are all within walking distance if you want to *lessen your carbon footprint. Go and visit Old Sacramento if possible. The Hyatt Regency Sacramento is truly a luxury hotel worthy...
