Unfortunately i’ve been visiting this restaurant for the past year (through the pandemic) and have had a generally good experience here with most staff. Until this past week, when I ordered an online order via their approved application (which i’ve done many times) and once I arrived to pick up my food I was handed the incorrect order. I’ve worked many years in food service and understand minor mistakes like this. After immediately calling the manager on duty, Alex, at the time was very kind in offering to allow them to remake the food since the third party could not cover them for their mistake in handing me the wrong food. Perfect service from Alex, handled beautifully. When arriving back in store to receive the replacement order the alternate manager on duty, Fabian, was unhelpful in telling me he would not remake my food or honor his managements previously discussed fix of the issue. Fabian could have handled it many ways, as his coworker did in acknowledging the mistake, but chose to disrespect the customer by not honoring their reimbursement of their teams mistake. I’ve enjoyed eating at this establishment, but will not be recommending it to my colleagues based on the fact that they would not honor their word of their management or even refund the payment I made for the food I never received. I was directed via Doordash to contact them for a refund since they made the mistake on a pick-up order, which is generally standard for the online service provider. I was a loyal customer and have had many options in the area but chose them for their service previously. After this experience, I will dine elsewhere. Do not order from this restaurant online because if they do end up messing up your order they will not fix it and you will be at a loss for your money spent. Hope they resolve these types of internal customer service issues so they don’t lose more customers on minor mistakes and quick fixes that truly do retain...
Read moreCalled in a take out order about 5:30pm for the family. They said it would be about 15 minutes. Got there about 25 minutes later, ironically because I hate to stand there waiting for my order. They found my order in the computer, and I paid for my food (with tip, unfortunately), and they said it wasn't ready, just a couple minutes☹. About 5 minutes later, a woman asked me if she could help me, as I was still standing in front of the counter, and I said I was still waiting for my order. Five minutes later, same thing, like she didn't know who I was. Five minutes later, same thing AGAIN! I think she thought I was a homeless person, waiting for a handout LOL! She finally told a waiter, probably to boot the homeless guy, and he said I must have ordered somewhere else. I showed him my receipt, so he decided he better check (finally). I guess the order got lost between the register and kitchen. Had I not already invested 45 minutes waiting, I would have asked for my money back and left. When I finally got my order, the person I assume was the manager said, "next time you come in, let us know you had a problem and we'll give you a discount." Now, they didn't recognize me after 5 minutes, they certainly aren't going to believe me after a week! Here's a tip, Mexcal: when you completely screw up, offer the person who is waiting a drink at the bar. Or an actual written discount. The food was standard/okay, not much "super" ingredients in the super burritos. Won't be going...
Read moreExcellent food. I work close to this restaurant, so coming here often is easy for me. It has a lot of good food, and I've spent time ordering a lot of different things on the (continuously improving) menu to get a really good idea of the food variety they have to offer here.
They have great meats here, my favorite probably being the chile verde. I love that you can get it in a burrito! That's a standard order of mine. Lately I've been branching out and getting crispy tacos with al pastor, carnitas, carne asada, etc. They're all great. They have outstanding shrimp tacos as well, that have a bit of spice mixed in. A wonderful tomato-based sauce goes with 3-4 large shrimp in each taco.
The salsa bar is pretty good, and while I like spicy foods, the flavor of the mild salsas here are better, for me, than the spicy varieties.
The rice and beans you get with meal plates are standard. They're not amazingly special by any means, but they give you what you're looking for when you get rice and beans: carb-y bites of nicely-done rice with creamy refried beans, and a touch of cotija on top. Standard, and good.
Yes, I'd recommend this place.
EDIT - It's September 2023. I stand by this review I wrote a while back. I just went here last night to pick up a carnitas super burrito. Wonderful as always. Love seeing this place busy. The...
