HORRIBLE HOTEL! OVERPRICED, RUDE STAFF, & DIRTY
Upon check-in, no valet was present for over 10 mins. I went inside to the desk to inquire where the valet was. The desk clerk informed me I could park for free across the street at the bank. I said no thank you and would like the valet. She curtly told me valet is $18, and parking is free across the street. I declined again and requested the valet. The desk clerk gave the impression this was an inconvenience.
The desk clerk checking me in informed me at 4:30 p.m. that my room was not ready. I was stunned and asked why because check-in was at 4 p.m. She informed me there was a late check-out and that housekeeping would need another 45-90 minutes to complete our room. I became upset and said this was unacceptable. She shrugged, indicating she was unsure what I expected her to do. I then stated I paid for a room, the hotel guaranteed its availability at 4 p.m., and you should not allow a late check-out if you cannot provide the room in time for the next guest, and that I require a room now. She then contacted housekeeping to check on the room and told me housekeeping would text her when they knew something. Again, I said this was unacceptable, and at this point, she decided to check herself only to find the room was indeed ready, and this entire thing was a mistake.
Room Cleanliness/Missing amenities dirty area rugs turned my socks black stains on couch outlet by the bed loose & not working toilet handle falling off coffee maker reservoir filled with debris (needs descaling) and does not work cob webs all over outdoor balacony table tops dirty outside no robes or slippers 1 bedroom suite booked, no seperate bedroom with door, open floor plan
I contacted room service twice (dinner & breakfast) and passed both times because the hostess could not answer questions regarding dinner specials (at 5 pm said they were still working it out) and could not provide a pot of coffee with breakfast (a staple at any hotel).
After dinner, ask the desk clerk (same as the valet parking incident) for some robes. She informed me they were in the room. I explained to her they were not. She asked if I was sure. I said yes, then she wanted to know if I looked and checked to make sure. I told her I did and had to explain everywhere I looked before she was willing to call housekeeping to send some up.
Check-out desk clerk was the rudest individual of the stay. I came down to check-out, and she rudely asked, "what do you want?". I told her I was checking out, and she said, "you don't. need to do anything". I asked for a bill, and she said it was to be e-mailed. I asked for a paper copy & she stated, "really?". She then refused to make eye contact or speak when fetching the bill. There was a mistake; I pointed it out, and she huffed and told me it would be corrected and e-mailed. I declined and asked again for a paper copy. She huffed, printed one, and then ignored me when I said thank you, refusing to look or speak to me.
My e-mail bill and my credit card charge are different prices. Hotel refused to honor the rate I prepaid and instead charged a...
This an oustanding, five star hotel. I have stayed in many a "five star" and "Elite" hotel over years of traveling both domestically and foreign. This particluar hotel is so well designed with great thought put into historical aspects of the community and modern touches of art deco. Upon entering there is much to look at from the lighting to the variations in seating, each of which is a well balanced mix of sophistication and elegance without sacrificing comfort (surprising I know, because they usually don't go hand in hand). I only saw one of the suites which was phenomenal. Once again every aspect well balanced between history, art and comfort. Every material used is top quality from ceiling to floor with nothing missed in between. Serious art to the fun and eye catching (some require a few moments to process and leave you thinking, hmm-interesting) are all around, so slow down and take it all in. The restaurant downstairs is amazing. It could easily stand alone as a five star establishment. The appetizers and entrees are an experience each of their own, offering unique flavors paired together in ways you wouldn't have thought. My suggestion is to just go with it and be amazed, you may find a new favorite you never imagined. They have "shared" entrees and they mean it. A single rib eye feeds four, no joke, it was awesome. We've since gone back to try other dishes offered, none have disappointed. This will be our try it all restaurant even though we have some early favorites which will be hard to stray from. The finishes are once again phenomenal in the restaurant yet very welcoming. There are private dinning areas as well as large group capacity seating where a private dinner party could be had. There is a full service bar complete with mixologists. Most drinks have their alcohol free version as well. The hotel brings high society to southern Utah. The experience easily matches any big name, "the sky is the limit" establishment out there. Don't take my word for it, try it your self.
As for the staff. Friendly smiles abound backed by conscientious effort are making it happen. Kudos to them, it just gets better with time and experience.
I'm not really one to add photos, yet I like to see them myself so I'll add some just to give you an idea. Note the humor in the wall art in one suite, after all it is Utah (kind of should have seen that one coming).
Last and not the least, the building is beautiful and the views from the rooms are great. Each side has views to offer, from the red rock features to downtown or the Dixie valley.
p.s. I almost forgot. Yes there is a gym and hot tub. I guess that's an option if you couldn't pack your mountain bike or golf clubs or walking shoes (Come on, even your CEOs and CFOs know how to pack those, I think it's even written in Administrative training packets, too). Emergency toothbrushes and tooth paste can be found if they couldn't fit due to "needed" equipment taking priority-just say'n you've got options.
I hope your experience...
Read moreThough I wish this were a positive review to reflect upon and describe the most important day of my life, I would like to express my honest review to help anyone else in the future considering to stay or hold an event here. My husband and I chose The Advenire to stay and rent the rooftop terrace for our small wedding reception/dinner in March of 2021. The hotel was beautiful, clean and the food was delicious- the only reason I am giving this review any stars. I don’t think I could fit my actual review of how horrible the customer service is and was during our stay, even with being an event holder. The restaurant and bar staff were slow and rude to myself and guests not only during our wedding dinner, but throughout the weekend during meals. It took over two hours to get our dinner during our wedding reception, even after consistently asking about it and half of our guests never received plates for many of the courses and had to eat with their fingers. I had to constantly request that the water jugs be refilled and even though soft drinks were included with our dinner, none of my guests were offered anything but water. When asking about it to one of the servers, she rudely responded “because no one has ordered anything else and you didn’t pay for it.” I ordered room service on the morning of my wedding and they lost my order, I had to call back an hour later to place a new one. Some of our guests stopped at WoodAshRye for brunch and it took over 45 minutes just to get coffee. One of these guests walked down the street to a local cafe, ordered coffee, then came back in and sat down at the table all before they received their drink orders. On top of this, my guests commented how uncomfortable the staff made them feel throughout the weekend and how they felt as if they were an inconvenience being there. The hotel “Director of Sales and Marketing” and our key contact during the planning process was unprofessional and as described by guests, “had no idea what was going on” during the entire reception. She refused to learn our name spellings over email and phone correspondence for 6 months, and never even formally introduced herself to us the entire weekend. We have been charged for our stays and event, but were also supposed to receive a final receipt and breakdown of charges and still haven’t received them after two weeks, which should speak volumes to the manner in which this hotel is run. 3/5 stars for the location, food quality, and overall appearance/cleanliness of the hotel. 0/5 stars for the unprofessional, unorganized, chaotic customer service...
