Staff was definitely underwhelming they were not very responsive was not offered a normal courtesy that you would expect as a minimum standard. Food was mishandled, was not given the drink or refill offers NOR the remainder of our meals until we've already finished our meals and ready to leave. Ended up getting the rest of our food with the check, never asked for discount and ONE was not offered along with no apologies for late food. They did get it rest of tge food finallyin a to go box. Food was ok at best, chicken was salty, rice was served cold. No refills on water, peach tea or rolls were offered then the front end person got rude when we went to try to get some peanuts stating "did you ask for that" replied we were never offered any...also asked to be seated in booth... "stated that area was closed" but a few minutes later that area was being seated. So not sure what's going on but that probably why Texas Road House parking lot is full and Coltons is becoming more and more empty. I normally tip pretty heavy been know to tip 50% or higher. Not here. I can say that this type of service is what causes business failures. This was on a Friday night, lots of empty seats. Wonder why?

Food was really good & steaks were cooked as ordered and were tender. The biggest issue we had was the waitress - forgetting to place the order for our appetizer, so had to remind her when she came back to take our order so it took a long time to finally get it. (We had ordered the appetizer while we looked over the rest of the menu.) Then it took forever for her to bring our salads & then our dinner arrived while we were still eating our salads, which we specifically asked her not to do. After one of our longer days of traveling (9 hours driving), we wanted to relax & enjoy a nice steak dinner. This was anything but relaxing & enjoyable. It really was too bad the waitress was so busy discussing what was happening in the neighborhood with what appeared to be friends and "regulars" at other tables that she didn't have the time or inclination to take care of other customers. This could have been a great restaurant experience if she had been paying attention to her job.

Old review below (edit 5 years later) we'll apparently they took my comment to heart, because now when you order a medium rare you get blue rare. I ate there twice this week just to see and as you can see they are both completely rare. Not to mention that the bacon on the outside was definitely not cooked to a safe standard. My original 1 star stands. (both photos ordered medium rare) I ordered a steak raw; I got a steak that was medium.... Then I got Mac and cheese that was ok but it was not very warm... So I td the server that it was cold. What I got back was a mac and cheese that they must have stuck in the microwave for 5min, it was scolding hot and when it cooled down enough to eat it had the texture of leather cause they microwaved it.... I wish I could give them 0 stars. The only reason they even get one is because of the server

Their food is okay, not bad, but not great. The first time in I was there for two hours. It took over an hour to get food. When the food was almost out, the waiter came to inform us that they had no more mac and cheese for me son, so we had to order something else. Not a big deal, but why tell us at the last minute. Then I got the filet, which was not cooked the way I requested, and mushrooms. I paid extra for the mushroom side. These mushrooms where not good at all, they were the worse mushrooms I have ever had. I love mushrooms. These tasted like they were dipped in someone's Body odor undershirt and pepper added to it.

The second time we got seated quickly and ordered our food. The rolls came out and they were all squished. They looked like someone had taken a rolling pin to them and then served it to us. One even had a big whole in it, like someone stuck their thumb through it. I ordered two appetizers, the onion and the spinach artichoke dip. Then ordered the chicken tenders and Mac and cheese for my son. Waited a little and the waitress comes out to say they don't have the spinach and artichoke dip,(they are always out of something it seems) so I ordered the mozzarella sticks. The food comes the onion is okay, very greasy. The mozzarella sticks are the best thing, but they are kind of hard and over battered. My son took one bit of the Mac and cheese and said it was really gross. I thought he was just being a kid, but I'm like my son likes broccoli, when most kids don't.. So I said it can't be that bad and tried it. It was that bad. He even told the waitress and she didn't even correct it or take it off.

So I gave them two chances, even after the first horrible experience. I probably will...

Well I would have given a zero but it wouldn’t let me. First of all you should never lie to your customers. We had a party of 8 and were in town for a military graduation and wanted to sit together. We had a military veteran and a newly graduated military man. We were told there were no reservations period and then we were told all of the tables that had napkins with 8 seats were reserved for a large group of regulars. Well that was very confusing. The managers said the owner made those reservations they didn’t and if we wanted to argue about it, we could argue with him. We didn’t want to argue, we just wanted our family to sit together and there were several tables available but we were told that section was closed. Then we questioned it and were treated very rudely by several women claiming to be managers? That was probably a lie too because no manager I have ever known treated customers like they did us today. We ended up sitting 4 to a booth back to back and when we left the round tables that were nicely set and reserved for a group of regulars were still empty. Our waiter was fantastic and was so nice. He made sure we had everything we needed and he checked on us often. The food was great but the management was horrible and we were lied to by 3 different women. This was unacceptable on every level. For that reason, I can find a steak just as good or better at a restaurant where people don’t lie. Colton’s should hire people who have the proper management training because they don’t definitely don’t have any at the Fort Leonard Wood...

I would like to start by saying that I just left the restaurant feeling as if I shouldn't return. I recently ordered a spinach artichoke dip with a peach tea and my total was 13.00 and some change. My dip was filled all the way to the top (literally) a couple of days ago. When I went to order the same thing today, the first person I talked to was really sweet but went to ask about the size I had received recently. I was met by a really rude condescending waitress who walked off on me and just started serving tables. After just standing there for a bit, I asked to speak to a manager who I showed my previous purchase to and explained that I wanted the same amount I had last time but was met with that I had to be double charged. And that everything was preportioned (which didn't seem truthful) Look, I have waitressed as well and have taken customer's orders. I have never ever treated any customer the way I was treated today. I'm disappointed because the way the waitress scoffed at me when I tried to explain the situation to her just was unnecessary and then just walked off to help other tables. I wasn't rude, I never raised my voice, I was polite. I could have understood if I went in there being disrespectful and just a hot mess but I wasn't. The manager could have understood and made things right so that I may be a repeat customer especially after seeing my receipt. She could have looked it up...
