New England Soup Factory — Restaurant in Salem

Not the best. My family and I went in for 3 bowls of soup , which was mediocre… not very filling. My sister got the “Mac n cheese” which was egg noodles and cheese… and half a wrap. The Mac n cheese was microwaved and it was $6 dollars for a scoop and a half. She also had half a wrap which came out to be a total of $13 dollars including the Mac n cheese. Ridiculous for just a scoop of Mac n cheese and half a wrap. I had gotten the Italian beef stew. It was very good so I recommend getting that if you do come here. A bowl and a side of bread (doesn’t even come with a side of butter) is $11.50… my mother had gotten the chicken noodle soup and not only was it mediocre. It had the same egg noodles as the Mac n cheese and barely had CHICKEN in it… my sister and I had gotten two iced teas for $8 dollars. Drove past here a thousand times and finally decided to try it. Ordered 2 sandwiches, a salad, and a 16 oz. soup. The salad was high quality, and was a reasonable size. The sandwiches or roll ups were extremely basic, as if the people who made them had never had a sandwich. No pickle, no chips included, which was the kicker since the price was on the high side and they were very basic. I tried the soup last and thought it would be the saving grace since after all it's a soup factory. Not so much. The vegetable soup had less flavor than a can of progresso. Furthermore, I noticed that the container did not seem to be 16 oz. which is what I ordered. I poured it in a measuring cup, and it was 12 oz. I called them back to tell them, and they insisted it was 16 oz. Very dissatisfied with the portion to price. The quality was average besides the salad. I live very close by and frequent this establishment quite often. Every time I go in there I walk in to amazing smells coming out of that kitchen and I am almost overwhelmed with hunger and joy as a result. The people who work here are extremely nice and helpful and definitely care a lot about your experience inside New England Soup. Now for the soup itself, I am ordering in bulk when I go in there and praying I save some for later. Those soups are perfect. Every time I take a bite I can’t help myself from thinking how much detail and deliberation must go into each recipe. If you are not from the area I hope you give this place a try it is amazing soup.
