Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Salina

I used to look forward to going Freddy's, to any of the stores. Here in Salina at the South 9th street location I have seen a slow decline in the quality of the food and service. Then tonight, Sept. 16th, it has reached a point where I don't know how much time will pass before I go back to that store. The store was not busy, the parking lot wasn't even half full, yet the service was very slow. I went thru the Drive Thru. I could barely hear the young man who was taking those orders, even after I had told him that I could hardly hear him speak.. When I received my order I took the cherry from the top of the Turtle Concrete,, anticipating it's sweetness; instead I got a cherry that tasted sour and nasty. For me that is an indicator that that particular work station hasn't been properly nor sufficiently cleaned for at least one shift, more like 2 or 3 shifts. When I took a drink of my soda I got a taste of sourness like sour milk. Once again, the taste of the soda showed me that the store is not being cleaned as it should, and must be cleaned to pass a Food Service Inspection. Freddy's is better than this rash of poor service and distasteful food. I didn't finish my meal because of the poor quality of the food, and nasty tasting food. This place was somewhat of a mix for me.

5 stars - for the cleanliness of the restaurant, what I could see of the kitchen, the fountain area, and bathrooms as well as the speed of completing our order.

4 stars - for the food. It was good, but I wasn't drooling over it. They also forgot the tomato on my burger, the barbeque for my kids meal and were a little heavy on the fry seasoning.

3 stars - for the fried pickles. They were ok. Kinda over battered and not much taste.

1 star - for the value of the fried pickles. For $2.60 + tax, I was given 9 edible fried pickles, 1 inedible fried pickle and a side of ranch. It is far from worth the price. The advertised photo shows a heaping basket of fried pickles. I assumed that photo was of the large $4.99 fried pickle basket which is why I ordered the regular size. I was assuming I'd receive half a basket for half the price, not 9 over battered and slightly undercooked...

I wanted to give it a try since I had not been here in about five years. Very good food and the wait staff was very pleasant while my son and i decided what to have. Very short wait time and food was made fresh, hot and presentable. Very good Quality Hamburger I mean " Steak burger" ! My only two drawbacks with Freddy's was no1 their fries 🍟 were to small for my liking. But this is how they make them at Freddy's! One of their signature trademarks. The fries on the other hand were seasoned very well! And I felt the price of the meal was on the high side for a fast food restaurant. I spent 20.00 and got just 2 combo meals. At Spangles and Braum's I could get 2 combo meals and 2 desserts at that price. If I would have got the custard it would have been over 20.00. I had got a Chili's 2 for 20.00 for that price.
