I love the mission and atmosphere of Mission BBQ and was so happy they opened here in Salisbury. I'm hoping the challenges I experienced yesterday was just a bad day at the office. I called in an order for takeout, very simple order - 2 lbs of brisket. I showed up at the chosen time, and had to get in a huge line, waited almost 15 minutes to get to the pick up register and had to order my food again, and then go wait in another giant line with the first 10 people in the pick up line, and every other diner waiting for food in the restaurant. So my call in order wasn't actually ordering food, I did that when I got to the restaurant expecting to pick up my food, not order it again. I also watched person after person eating at the restaurant order, pay, pick up their food and walk past me and others headed to eat, and they ordered after me. It does not take that long to slice 2 lbs of brisket.. And the brisket - moist brisket should not be dry, chewy, and hard. It was not moist at all, some inedible. At $23/lb, if you ask for moist, it should be moist. Again, hard to tell what the problem was, they had about 20 people working back there and it was like nobody knew what processes should be in place to order and get food out, especially take out. I do love the idea, atmosphere, and mission of Mission BBQ, and we always try to go more than once before writing a place off, so I will probably go again, but I will never call in an order again, and next time I will look carefully to see if I get...

On September 17, 2023 at 2:53pm I was asked in line while placing my order by the cashier how would I like to be flipped off and he proceeded to show me two different middle finger gestures. It was disturbing to see the other staff standing around, laughing and smiling to watch me be mistreated.

I was caught off guard by the question and gesture that I really didn’t know how to respond so instead of making a scene, I quickly grabbed my order, left and called the store manager.

Well, after sharing what happen to the manager, I could tell in his voice while apologizing it was funny to him as well. I Instantly realized he didn’t take my complaint seriously.

I didn’t feel at all that it was genuine. I hung up and decided to share my experience in a review because I felt very offended and disrespected as a black person. I say this because the cashier was white and did not ask the white customer the same question who was directly behind me to place an order. As I waited for my food in disbelief, I witness the white customer being treated with respect and kindness no offensive question or gesture.

I will not visit any mission BBQ franchises going forward due to being racially mistreated and offended as a customer. It was hurtful, as well as cruel to be treated so badly! The staff and management, accepting of this kind of treatment of a black person was horrible! My worse experience at Mission BBQ. A place that was welcoming and polite.

Choosing Mission BBQ to cater our wedding was one of the best decisions we made for our special day. From start to finish, the experience was flawless, and we couldn't have asked for better service or food.

First and foremost, the manager we worked with was an absolute delight. The food was incredible. From the tender, smoky meats to the mouthwatering sides and sauces, our guests couldn't stop raving about how delicious everything was, and many went back for seconds (and thirds!).

Overall, Mission BBQ exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Their exceptional service, combined with the incredible food, helped make our wedding day truly memorable.
