TLDR: The best (and only) authentic Thai food in the valley. Food is authentically spicy on a 0-5 scale. I recommend ordering 0 for mild, 1 for medium, 2 or 3 for hot.
I have spent a lot of time abroad setting up and running healthcare clinics in remote areas of the world. One such place was in the mountains of northern Thailand. I've been chasing (and failing) to find those flavors in the valley for over a decade.
Thai in the valley come up short. Pad Thai that tastes like ketchup?! I mean what is that about?! Well... NOT SO AT ARANYA!
This place is AUTHENTIC Thai food, a first for SLC. I literally drive past several other Thai places to get the food from here. Service is friendly and responsive. The ambiance feels like I'm back in Chiang Mai with the red seats and modest decor.
Other SLC Thai places, take note.
Oh, and we have severe gluten allergies that were no problem for them to accommodate.
Tip: Unsurprisingly, they spice their food authentically HOT on a 0-5 scale. I recommend the following spice #'s: 0 for mild, 1 for medium, 2/3 for hot. 4 and 5 should be reserved for people with something to prove. You can also get the spice on the side and spice your...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been going here for quite some time frequently, in fact, this is the only restaurant I often frequent. The food is hands down the best Thai I have had in a very long time, with the most incredible flavors and options. The owners are the kindest people, evert time we visit we are welcomed by a warm environment, and people that love their customers, hold pride in their food, and overall bring a spark to Salt Lake City. Personally, my partner and I love their curry and pad Thai. 100/10 would recommend! Updated- We absolutely love this restaurant, however, due to pricing increases Have stopped coming as often. The food is still amazing! They do have a female hostess for pick ups and seating that has also been part of the reason we have discontinued our visits. Every time we have spoken with her, she was very rude, unprofessional, and sarcastic. The last time we went in, she was very short with us, she was more focused on speaking to her friends, then doing her job. Other than that, they have a great restaurant! We adore...
Read moreTheir food is delicious and big portions which is so hard to find these days! I LOVED HOW AUTHENTIC THE FOOD WAS! I also find their prices to be so reasonable for their portion size! Their drunken noodles has so many veggies and meat in it and had great flavour and was big! Their pineapple curry was served in a big bowl that is double other restaurants, their fried rice was enough to feed at least two people, and their Som Tum was good. Their mango sticky rice is amazing and the rice was cooked to perfection and the coconut sauce was delicious with the perfect sweetness. The kids ordered the fried bananas with ice cream and LOVED IT! Their eyes lit up on their first bite.
The owner/chef is a Thai lady and is very friendly and her husband also runs the restaurant and is very friendly.
Their spicy level was not very spicy. I ordered the spiciest level for the drunken noodles and papaya salad and they were not very spicy.
The restaurant is very big and clean and nicely decorated. There is an abundance of...
