Read moreDo not recommend. Went for Sunday Brunch, I ordered the Chef's Omlete with Bloody Mary, and wife ordered Egg's Benedict with a mocktail. My omlete: wasn't fluffy, or fresh-flavored, wasn't light, or creamy, or in any way reminiscent of what a reasonable person would expect out of an omlete. Rather, was a dense, heavy, tortilla-style fried egg pancake with disgustingly over-cooked chorizo. The side: gas station breakfast burrito style fried potato chunks dusted in paprika. Such a bad accompaniment to something as light as an omlete, and one I generally just despise. Bloody Mary: no discernable tomato juice or a chef's light tomato puree. It was brown, heavily peppered and choked with literal inches of celery salt-pepper sediment settling on the bottom of the glass. Wasn't served in a high-ball glass, but in a whiskey tumbler. What I expected was tomato, red, the interplay of boozy sweet and peppery, salty celery. I expected a "bloody mary", an explosion of summery flavor, decadently boozy but fresh and vibrant. What I got was a dull, brown, vinegar salt and pepper drink. Also.... Bloody Mary vis-a-vis vodka: was there any in there, or was it just...vinegar, tobasco, worchestershire sauce and your entire cabinet of celery salt and pepper?? If there was vodka, it was so undiscernable as to have been watered down. Egg's Bennie: two eggs, one done nicely, the other overcooked as it had yolk solids caked against the poached whites, suggesting the kitchen staff either can't poach consistently, or they make a number before service and reheat as needed in a microwave. Final thoughts: I'll never go back. My question for the management here is the same question I have for the management at places like Per Noi: can't you grasp that we, the consumer, can taste the corners you're cutting and the money you're shoveling into your own pockets by hiring incapable...
Read moreI arrived at Gracie’s for a private party that was being thrown by a technology company, as part of a conference I was attending. Although I’d been let into multiple pubs and clubs and was on the entry list, the “security” refused 3 different forms of photo ID from me because it wasn’t an American passport or drivers license- I am not American I’m British. When I attempted to explain that I’d come from another event in a club and a bar prior to that and had no issues, the “security guard” aggressively got off his bottom, came out from behind the desk he’d been sitting at, got into my face and my space and started screaming at me while multiple startup founders watched in shock. The man seemed unhinged, and although I was outside demanded I stand on the pavement in the parking lot (4 footsteps away from where I was standing). He got louder and louder, got in my face and continued to shout and scream like some kind of unhinged lunatic. This location not only had multiple drunk young girls in the location but had accepted a German drivers license from the girl who entered before me. Do not host an event here, clearly the staff are unable to uphold the professionalism required for a private event of any kind. They should not be allowed to work with people honestly. Please be warned before planning an event here! I highly recommend lake effect (where another technology company had thrown the event I was at prior) or Squatters for kind staff, normal behavior of said staff and to ensure your guests aren’t abused in public. This place should be shut down but I’m sure people don’t attend anyway given the environment created. Photos for reference of particularly abusive staff member, please ladies be cautious, he’s not in...
