Tl;dr don't go to this salon if you have ethnic hair, DO NOT get it cut here. They don't listen to you when you tell them to dry cut and can't seem to get it evenly cut.
Let me start off by saying, I get a hair cut like once a year. I don't care about regular hair upkeep much, but I was looking to make a big change so I decided to splurge and go to an upscale salon.
I sat down with the stylist who insisted on washing my hair before she cut it. This was a problem for two reasons: 1. I had gotten a babysitter so I could get my hair cut, and washing wasn't something I had accounted for. Plus, I had washed it before I came. 2. I have ethnic hair, but straighten in so often times people can't tell. Washing, blowdrying, and straightening would take way too long and usually hair stylists don't even do it right. The hair stylist insisted anyways and I thought she must know better. Come to find out, the charge by the minute for blowdrying and straightening. How convenient.
After almost an hour and a half of washing, drying, and straightening (two people going at it at once), we moved on to the cut. I had long hair and wanted a significant amount cut off as well as an undercut with a simple design cut into it. I confirmed this with the stylist before we started and she said she could do it no problem. When she finished cutting and trimming down my hair in the back, she informed me she had cut it too short and wouldn't be able to do a design. I took a look at the back of my head in a mirror to find she had basically shaved me bald. It looked so bad, not at all what I had asked for.
The undercut grows out, it's not visible unless my hair is up, so I figured it wouldn't be a huge deal. I was disappointed, but continued. She cut my hair and went on to trim in layers as I had asked but couldn't seem to cut the sides evenly. She cut and cut and cut until I finally stopped her because I wasn't going to have hair left by the time she was done. It was uneven, choppy, and I was out $60.
I got home and even my boyfriend was shocked at how bad it was. I decided it wasn't anywhere close to what I wanted and called to get a refund. They said they would have the manager call me back when she got back into town. I waited the three days and heard nothing. When I finally got in touch with her, it was a full week later. She was nice enough on the phone, but told me they wouldn't be able to give me a refund because the stylist had "done the best she could to fix it." She said they could offer to have me come back in to fix it, but I told her that wasn't possible because she had already cut off all my hair. There wasn't anything left to cut. She then offered store credit, but by that point I was pissed and didn't want their salon to have any of my business. After a lot of arguing, she finally agreed to a refund, but it had to be in cash. I'm not sure why, but that's the way it had to be. I got my cash refund and that was the end of it.
I was really dissatisfied with the cut, but the service was maddening. I wish the manager had been more accommodating and respected my wishes in the...
Read moreI wouldn’t recommend this place. I went in with purple/brown looking mess on my head with a grown out undercut on both sides of my head. I was trying to go lighter and do an ombré. And just a trim on my undercut and my actual hair. Well when I got done I was confused because my roots were two or three times darker than When I first walked in and again I wanted to go lighter. And it was whatever to me I brushed it off because I showed the girl what I wanted so when her and Bryan started talking about what dyes to use I assumed she was doing what I wanted. Ive home blonde several times so I understand when going lighter it’s not going to turn out perfect the first time and it will 9/10 look funky for the first two weeks or until you do it again. She did lighten my ends and they turned out good and the overall blend of the colors was good. My hair looks okay but again just not what I wanted at all. On top of that I asked for a trim basically just dust off the ends of my hair from the damage the bleach caused. When she started cutting she didn’t clarify or anything she just started cutting. She took about half an inch to an inch off of my hair. At this point I’m just kind of thinking to myself that I should’ve gone somewhere else but I’m not the type to make a scene. She finishes the cut and starts working on trimming up and reshaping my sides. I asked for pointed sides and neither of them turned out that way. One is slightly pointed and the other side is just botched. I now have to keep my hair down until my sides grow out a little bit because it looks awful and embarrassing. I paid for it all anyways because again I wasn’t able to really look close at my sides until I got home. But they charge me $46 for a cut I didn’t ask for and a screwed up undercut shape. I could’ve gone to a beauty school and gotten what I wanted and a better cut for $75 instead of $200 which is what I paid. $200 for only one thing I wanted and the rest was what the hair dresser wanted on me. Again it looks cute but beyond disappointed with getting something I didn’t really even want and now the process is going to be 10x harder for the next hit stylist I go to and is going to damage my hair more just to get what I actually wanted. I would’ve been okay with my hair looking bad with my first session and knowing I was in the process of getting to where I wanted my hair instead of leaving with what...
Read moreWhat is the first thing you would like to avoid when you have made an appointment with a nice fancy salon? Any guesses? " The wait"
My appointment was at 3:15 and I was there at 3:10. The front desk told me that your stylist is finishing up and it will take her few minutes. I said "Sure". I waited for 30 minutes and my stylist walked past me 3-4 times without apologizing that she is running late. I waited another 10 minutes (total of 40 minutes), and asked front desk, if I'm getting a hair cut today or not. They again mentioned that she is finishing up.
In the end it took me total of 45 minutes of wait time to get a 30 minute simple haircut. I paid extra $6 for parking outside, missed my meetings that were scheduled at 4.45 PM and end up getting a normal hair-cut that I can get at supercuts or great clips.
Next day, my wife had an appointment with the same stylist. I'd already shared this story with her in advance, so she was kinda prepared. Her appointment was at 4.00 PM and guess what the front desk told my wife? Any guesses? "She is running a little late".
She waited 20 minutes and then the stylist finished the last customer and instead of calling my wife, she invited this another customer. My wife got a little upset and asked what is this service? The stylist told her that she has do a little clean-up on that customer and it won't take more than 10 minutes.
I understand that sometimes you are running behind. But at least you should train your stylist how to respect your customer's time and how to engage with customers even if you are running late.
I might not go to this place again and not recommend to my friends as the only thing I don't like is keeping people waiting when they have a schedule...
