Upon arriving, we drove around the block twice attempting to locate the parking lot, finally after parking up front and checking in, we asked where the parking was and one of the front desk attendants looked at us as if we were from outer space. We again asked where the parking for the hotel was and she finally told us if we go around the corner the first turn after is their parking and it is accessed through our room key, and it is a $20 charge a night to park. I had booked online a few weeks in advance and thought that it was final payment as I booked in advance, and while checking in the other attendant said it would be 272 dollars almost 100 more than what I paid when initially booking, when I asked what I paid for initially neither of the attendees could explain why it was. When I asked for clarification the attendee who explained the parking situation said and this is word for word “I can’t explain it to you”. If there is a charge different than what I expected you as an employee of this business should be able to explain it to me and simplify it for me if I am unable to grasp what you are saying not just tell me you can’t explain a charge that is in my eyes unjustified. I later found out through Google that it is a holding charge in case of damage to the room that is later refunded if everything is in order. The employees upon arrival were disrespectful and uneducated on the position and information that should be provided to guests. When we got to our room and opened the door, the immediate smell of cigarettes hit our noses. We looked to the sign outside the door that says it’s a non smoking room and my reservation stated that as well. My friends and I decided against going back downstairs and requesting a different room as we didn’t want to interact with the same rude staff from moments prior and decided to push through the smell. Other than the smell the room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom however has a fan that cannot be turned on, or does not have a easily accessible switch to be turned on and because of the pocket door no one felt comfortable enough to poop in the hotel room for fear of the smell moving into the rest of the room because there is no door or fan to rid the smell. The next morning before leaving we had breakfast at the hotel, it was alright, some options better than others, and when we checked out it was different staff, much kinder than the one the previous day. Personally, I would only stay here again if absolutely every other hotel and motel was booked...
Read moreFirst time in Salt Lake City for a conference and couldn't have had a better time! Hotel was great! Very clean, bed was extremely comfy and the pillows were a mix of one really soft and another a little firmer which was smart thinking. The only complaint about the room was that the AC seemed to turn itself off during the day so it was HOT in the room when I came back each night or later afternoon. It didn't seem to run to keep it cool at night much either unless I turned it down to 67 degrees.
Bathroom was very clean, neat and well stocked with Dove brand body soap, shampoo and conditioner. There is a hair dryer supplied as well.
Continental breakfast is provided which had western omelets, turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereals, muffins, cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, and hashbrowns with a variety of drinks including coffee, milk and juices.
As for the front desk, Chavonne helped get me checked in and was there during the day one day and also when I checked out. She was A-MAZING!! Super sweet, very helpful and cheerful. When I was checking out she even exclaimed "oh are you leaving us!" What a great place to stay! Everyone was sooo nice that I dealt with. Sorry I didn't get the others names but they were helpful as well when I had to ask a question about paying for parking separately.
I had dinner delivered one night by Uber Eats and although they were told in the order to add silverware, they forgot. The sweet lady on duty that night went to the kitchen area and got me some plastic silverware.
I hope I get to return here again for the next conference! The city seemed very...
Read moreracist management, unsecured parking lots. My car was broken in, and I loss a $4,000 camera
I reported it to the police on the night. An officer came, but front desk told me only security manager has authority to access the CCTV footage with the officer. The next day, I spoke with the security manager, a black woman, who told me only the police have the code to access the footage. This completely contradicted what I had been told the night before. I simply wanted to clarify the situation, but there was a misunderstanding between us. She refused to answer my questions or communicate with me. She became angry, started yelling at me, and tried to walk away, leaving me outside her office.
Later she accused me of yelling at her first, pushing her, and even spitting on her. None of which I ever did!! Then she called the police.
The general manager, an older white man, kept telling me to calm down, but he wouldn’t listen to anything I said or answer my questions. He was not there to help but trying to force me to admit that’s all my fault.
The polices came and took statements. I had no issues. The way the hotel management treated me made me feel discriminated against. I truly believe they felt emboldened to treat me this way because I’m Asian.
To make matters worse, the hotel’s back parking lot has CCTVS blind spots that don’t cover the side of my car that was broken into. It’s not safe.
Terrible experience....
