Seeing The Nutcracker this evening was fantastic, my sister and I had a great time for the most part. The one problem we had run into was the 3rd seating attendant that we spoke with. When we initially walked in the doors I spoke with a gentleman to find our seats, he was very helpful and gave us directions to where to find the lower section of the theatre. On our way there another attendant wanted to help us, but she wasn't familiar with our seats, she asked us to follow her to an attendant that had been around a whole longer. After asking the more experienced attendant she helped us into the theatre where we spoke to this 3rd person. We had row n tickets with one of them being a wheelchair access ticket, this 3rd person looked at our tickets and "suggested" that we just sit down in the back row, because it would be easiest, even though the tickets showed the correct wheelchair access seats. I told her we were just going to go find our seats, considering the tickets were the pricier, correctly purchased tickets, AND THE THEATRE EXPECTED HER SPECIAL NEEDS. When we were walking away she hollared at me that we cant sit her in the aisle, to which I replied "dont worry we wont" the next attendant was great and sat us down right where she was waiting for us. (The 2nd attendant apologized over and over for taking us to the upper area, but I let her know she was perfectly fine and it wasn't a problem, very kind young lady). The show was a wonderful performance, but the first half of the show my sister stressed out about why she'd be sat in the back and trying to be as perfect as possible, so she would fit in... again amazing experience, but I hope the 3 attendants that didn't cause my sister to stress out know how amazingly helpful they each were and we were...
Read moreAttended this beautiful venue to see the performance of Romeo & Juliette 2/11/22. I had hoped this gift to my sweetheart for Valentines Day would be one of our cherished memories. What disappointment to be forced to wear face masks. The venue was filled to the rafters with patrons., So much for real concern if the administrators really were concerned with health instead of political theater. One of the ushers was obvious bitter person who was militant and harassing in her enforcement of masks and their placement on the face. She visited my seat area and others constantly to "enforce" the " mask up" rule. She threatened me with the " Manager". I was truly hoping towards the end of the show for such a visit. Oh how we would of all made the news. Yesterday was the Super Bowl. 85000 folks watch in person.. NO MASKS! States throughout the Union are dropping these Draconian rules. Even our own Legislators here in Utah have freed our citizenry of this tyrannical rule.. The administrators of the Capital Theater are obvious science deniers. Cloth masks DO NOT work to reduce SARS infection. This a Progressive and Marxists attempt to force their dominate ideology on the masses. You far left kooks do not have a monopoly on enjoying the Arts. Far from it. Your ilk are the very people history has shown than when you have seized power you burn and expunged Art from society. Wake up fellows. Our Republic is at risk. Needless to say that until the mandatory and forced non science based draconian mask wearing rule is removed form this venue, Me and my art loving family will suffer. We will not comply. We will hold our money for others of reasonable...
Read moreIndependence University will be celebrating our 5th Graduation Ceremony at the Capitol Theatre this April. Last year we even held a reception afterword’s on the Rooftop Terrace with overflow in the Capital Room to accommodate a full capacity celebration for graduates and guests. I worked with the Event Manager, Amy Taggart, for the majority of the months leading up to the event. She made what could be a stressful situation just wonderful. Amy was extremely responsive and always there when I needed to ask additional questions, set up a walk through, or change details about the event. Additional Event Managers: Angela Vanderwell and Liz Ferguson, were also available if Amy was not available which becomes comforting when planning an event of this magnitude. Technical Directors, Tom Bryce and Chris Philion became extremely vital to the success of the day’s events. I could not have asked for two men that were more helpful with suggestions or open to my ideas. They were so accommodating during every walk through and on the day of graduation they worked harder than I could have hoped for. Staff members of Capitol Theatre think of everything even if you forget, including the sound/lighting technicians. They were very supportive and accommodating before and during the event. Sadly, I don’t recall their names but being microphone to them during the event you realize how vitally their role is to the events success… and they were masters! The Capitol Theatre and all the staff members come highly recommended. We could not have had a better experience last year as well as previous ceremonies. Bravo to all of you and thank...
