Stunning Architecture Meets Mixed Tour Experience
Upon entering the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, one can't help but be swept away by its architectural grandeur. The intricate paintings, statues, and resplendent stained-glass windows make for a truly awe-inspiring setting. This testament to faith is further underscored by its historical significance, as one of the largest Greek Orthodox Parishes in the Archdiocese of America.
It's heartening to see a community with such diverse roots, encompassing Greek immigrants, Greek-Americans, and other Orthodox Christians from various nations. This diversity is a testament to the Cathedral's long-standing role in the city and nation's fabric.
However, a note of caution for prospective visitors: while the tour guide's passion for his faith was evident, his approach was marred by a visible intolerance for other Christian faiths. A more unifying perspective would have been preferred over divisive comparisons.
All in all, the Cathedral is a breathtaking site to witness, and a significant part of the city's spiritual and...
Read moreThis was my first time attending the SLC Greek Festival, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. While the church is stunning and radiates positive energy and warmth, the positives largely end there. The $5 admission fee is reasonable, but the costs for everything else were exorbitant. It seems excessive for a church event to charge $4 for a bottle of water. Overall, the event felt more like a cash grab than a cultural celebration. There were numerous opportunities to engage attendees and families, such as dance lessons, a photo booth, or interactive characters, but unfortunately, none of these experiential elements were present. There were dancers and while I enjoyed watching them, my kids did not - they felt like all the performances were the same. Get those dancers off the stage and out interacting with people or have hype men in the audience.... something! Greek culture is incredibly rich and fascinating, but we didn't experience any of that at the festival. More immersive and free activities would have at least made the costs...
Read moreThe festival was awesome as always! This is our 28th festival. The food this year were not as good as years past? but it was still a great festival. The food quality is going downhill, and the prices are going up. I get that prices go up, I dont understand why the food quality has to suffer. The Keftethes were drastically smaller and the flavor was not the same. The Chicken Souvlaki and Pork Souvlaki were cold and the flavor was not there. The Pilafi was dry and bland tasting and the portion was 1/2 as much as in the past. The Baked Greek Chicken was the same as years past good flavor hot very good. The Stifatho was disappointing compared to previous years the lack of onion, it was there but hard to find, the lesser quality meat did not taste as good either. The entertainment was fantastic the dancers...
