Tried the new Tony's Burgers in West Valley off 56th. We weren't impressed at all. After waiting at El Chihuahua tonight for over 70 mins with a bunch of people in queue ahead of us pending over a 3hr wait. We gave up and opted for something quicker on our way home cause our little man was getting tired and hungry since it was way past his feeding and bed time.
This location was about 45 mins out before closing time when we got there. We asked if they were cleaning up because we didn't want to make their work go to waste. They reassured my husband they were still 45 mins out before closing and that they hadn't started cleaning up yet to close so we opted to go in and sit down. 2 guys ordered their food ahead of us and took a little time ordering. When we got to the register they told us they closed in 30 mins and the cashier gave the impression they didn't want us dining in anymore so we opted to take our food home.
It took over 20 mins to make our food and everything was cold by the time we got home. We live less than 5 mins from the location and I felt as thought this was my biggest issue. We were expecting at least warm food. Their fries were like a greasy clump of super salty cold noodles. Their grilled cheese was like pulling apart old crusted bread, bad enough my 2yr old wouldn't touch it even covered in ketchup. I had the chicken sandwich with bacon. Chicken had no seasoning and was dry but the Chipotle sauce was a nice addition, asked for it on the side but they put it on so I was happy it was a good flavor. Definitely would have preferred my husband's size bun to accommodate the size of the chicken and bacon. I was given a kids meal size bun that fell apart right away. My husband had the big Tony, he liked the beef but said it was a basic burger and nothing really stood out. The beef was falling apart before he touched the burger. Overall negative experience and most likely won't go back. The West Valley location does not have a Google account set up for their location so I am posting this to their sister location. Will update to the correct one once it is built. In the meantime please have this review relayed to...
Read moreI have been called arrogant, snobbish, entitled and pretentious. (Most people misuse pretentious. It literally means to pretend to be something your not. It does not mean "showy" or "stilted.") I really am none of things. I am just particular, and I feel after living for 68 years, traveling throughout the world, and trying all sorts of things, both good and bad, I know what should be called great, good, mediocre, lousy and disgusting. You may disagree, but I feel my experiences and worldliness allow me to be particular. I'm not better, just more experienced and probably less myopic.
This all leads me to say I think Tony's burgers are real good. I enjoyed eating them, and the burger tasted delicious. The fries were bad, and the place and process horrific. No human was meant to stand in line, ordering food from a billboard, and asked to take a number until that number is shouted out in a cavernous, uninviting room. I swear, the destruction of culture came about when the cafeteria was invented. Can you imagine how civil we would all be if schools had children sit down at a white linen covered table, ordering lunch from a menu? This table would be lain with silverware in the proper places, as our kids learned manners and decorum. Even a Frito Pie would taste elegant and delicious.
I forced my wife to order for me at Tony's as I walked out to enjoy the inversion. However, those burgers were great, and the cookies and cream malted was...
Read moreA better burger than what you would expect from a strip mall store front. Service was polite, quick and efficient. When you order you get an order number to take to your table and they bring your meal out to your table. The dining area was clean, setup well but small, the chairs were set right next to each other at the tables and the tables were set close together allowing room to just get through, if any chair was pulled out or occupied a person would not be able get in to set at a table. There was room but only just enough room. The bathroom was clean and stocked. One toilet but you could lock the door while you used the bathroom. I bought a (1/3 lb.) Big-T burger with cheese combo meal. Drink, fries and burger was $12.90 with tax a pricey meal even if it was a superb meal. I must give kudos though, my burger didn't appear to be a frozen pre-processed pressed pattie and the fries were ample a precisely cooked. The location I ate at was 613 East 400 South. I hope only good things for this establishment. I was connecting a flight at SLC International Airport and had an 8 hour layover till my midnight flight. My brother used to work in SLC and said it would be worth the hassle of leaving the airport and getting back through TSA to connect. Everyone I met in this city were nice and outgoing. Thanks for making my long layover a...
