McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in San Angelo

Called in an order to pick up. Three sandwiches sides and tea. Was told to give them 15-20 minutes. Had a very hard time communicating with the person on the phone when I ordered. She spoke English but a very thick accent. That did not bother me even thought it took longer to order. I arrived at the store on the 30 min mark and went inside. A store employee that was Asian ( that’s the best way I distinguish them from other employees) asked if I had a mask when I walked in. I said I did not have a mask but had an order to pick up. They stated I must wait outside, asked what vehicle I was in and my name. They then stated to have a seat and they’d bring it out. Another employee asked if I’d paid for it yet and I said no so she checked me out. I went out to sit in my vehicle and watched people come and go. Finally after sitting there another 20 minutes I went inside and the same little Asian employee shouted You have mask? I said no but I did have a food order that was placed 50 minutes prior and you said you would bring it out to me when it was ready. They ask d What name? As if they had never seen me. The other employee said that is Mr Steve and he was here just awhile ago. Our food was sitting in the to go area and it was handed to me and I left with a cold Ruben, cold Mac and Cheese our other two sandwiches and tea. Sorry service but pretty good sandwiches. Oh and it was 1:30ish when I ordered so anything was tasty at 2:30 when I made it back to the house. The lunch...

Update: nov 2023 good sandwich but am choking on the cost. Sandwich chips drink $15.23. Was it worth it? Yes and no. Food was good. Order was correct which is a big positive these days. But....fans are on and it is freezing in here. Maybe less AC and food cost less? My tea was $4.18. That is quite a profit. Will probably go elsewhere from now on.

Update: sept 2023 had a wonderful meal with friends tonight. The soup is really excellent. It is not too salty and flavorful. Also enjoyed my Italian sandwich. I definitely recommend this deli for a quick good meal at a fair price.

Wow what a difference a location can make! This McAllisters is wonderful! I had a super friendly guy take my order and he gave me solid recommendations on an Italian sandwich and peach flavored sweet tea. I chose to come here because they have tables outside and I could bring my dog. We enjoyed the experience very much. Food was great and we will be back. I think this may be one of the only dog friendly places...

Worst service possible after 30 mins of sitting down we could still see the cashier and cook arguing about orders and we could see plates in the window just sitting there getting cold when they should have already been severed to customers after asking about food and why it was taking so long they said they had a trainee back there but it’s not excuse it should not have taken 30 minutes for two sandwiches and a Mac and cheese plus somebody should be back there helping we saw customers going up and retiring food and drinks for not having the right order or drink some we’re getting frustrated and impatient including us a lady went up at least three times to complain her sandwich was not right and cold (she said she ordered a hot sandwich) she went up there once stood for 5 mins sat back down and that continued. Overall it was horrible service food was cold and table was sticky and squeaky will not be going back...
