Just went through the drive thru with my wife. They're real quick to suggest a 20% tip before they even hand you a bag of soggy Taco Bell.... I ordered the Wawa nachos. They charge $2 for every condiment you would think should already be on the nachos. $2 for 1/4 cup of sour cream, $2 for a little 1/4 of guac, $2 for a 1/4 cup of jalapenos, $2 for a 1/4 cup of house green sauce, which is just like Taco Palenque. Extremely overpriced! We spent $32 plus a $5 tip for two barbacoa tacos, and some of the soggiest nachos I've ever had. They were completely soggy before we could make the few minute drive to the house, which leads me to believe they already had the box prepared before I arrived to order. They were soggy to the point of having to eat that slop with a fork. I wouldn't be surprised if their chicken "fajitas" came out of a distributor bag, because it definitely didn't taste like restaurant quality. I haven't even tried the barbacoa yet, but I can only imagine it'll be some busted up fast food meat as well, especially seeing just how dry the wrapper on the taco is. I bet money it's some dried up grease free barbacoa meat that came straight out of a bag....Very disappointed. Tejas Cafe, Los Arcos, and Taco Palenque blow this place out of the water. I realize that there are some amazing restaurants all over the city, but these are the closest to my house. I definitely won't be returning to this fake Mexican restaurant. If you're gonna charge top dollar, and have your window employee suggest a tip right when your customers order, the least you could do is serve some decent food......👎

UPDATE..... Everyone in Texas knows what real barbacoa tastes and smells like..... Those two "barbacoa" tacos were more like ground up scrap meat. They didn't smell anything like barbacoa, and they had big chunks of arteries all throughout the meat. I didn't even bother trying to eat it. Threw it in the garage, and ate a hot pocket and microwavable burrito instead. Total waste of money.... I'm 45 years old, and been eating Mexican food all my life. This place has some...

My mom and I frequently eat here and love the food and the company. But for Mother’s Day I purchased a gift card for my mom. This past Sunday, she attempted to use it and was told it was declined. I called to see what the problem was because the amount had been deducted from my bank account. When I shared the problem with (I believe) the manger on duty, his first question was when I purchased the gift card followed up by telling me they hadn’t had any complaints about gift cards. Not sure how that’s relevant or how it’s ok to imply a customer is lying when they are asking a question or expressing a concern. He then told me she needed to bring it back in and they would fix it. We went in today and were told “but the card is active and has xxx amount on it.” Again somehow implying that we weren’t being honest about not being able to use the card. They were able to get the card to work and apparently the employee who originally scanned the card did so incorrectly but didn’t think to ask for help and just accepted that it was broken, etc... it’s really disappointing because we really enjoy Ay Chiwawa but are definitely not pleased with the service we received yesterday and today. Neither manager apologized or appeared concerned that something we had payed for wasn’t working. But immediately implying that I’m lying when I call to figure out what’s wrong is just not ok. Also, the Google links to your website have been...

My wife and I, went to have dinner and we ordered 2 Tampiqueno plate, well, it took forever to get our meal, we found out that in the kitchen was an error since they thought that it was only one plate nd no two, when our server found out about the mistake, she came to our table and told us and she said, don't worries, we are working to get your order ready soon, the Manager was at the front of the restaurant fooing around with anothwer employees, he never came to our table to apologize for the mistake, nothing just fooling and laughing, we were eating chips to calm down our hungry, when the food finally arrive, one order was completly over welldone, cool and hard to be able to eat, I did order middle rare, it was impossible to eat, the flavor was like a charcoal completley burned, my wife asked me to ask for a new one but I didn't want to wait another 15 or 20 minutes more, when I asked for my ticket by our surprise they collect for the lausy order, I did ask the server why I did have to pay for something that in the first place it took way too long to have it done and it was not edible, I didn't to discuss and I paid and get out as soon as possible, we never will go again there and I recomend you to avoid this place because they would...

So this was my first time here. Service was ok. Had a new waitress (she told every table it may take her longer to take the order). It did take a little longer, but nothing significantly out of the ordinary. Coffee ran dry twice and my water disappeared from the table when my plate was taken. ???? Ordered the Enchiladas de Creama and an app of the shrimp stuffed avocado. Shrimp Stuffed Avocado- not what I was expecting it had mushrooms, squash. Tomato, along with shrimp, Avocado, cheese. I had a stuffed avocado one time before and I can't find it again it was a whole avocado with either shrimp, beef or chicken inside of the avocado where the pit sits, it was breaded and deep fried. (This was not that at all). Enchiladas de Creama- good, but rice is not exciting or that flavorful. The creama is different I wanted to say it was more sour than I expected. I wasn't offered chips and salsa prior or at all. I had to request a straw for my water, and request salsa with my meal. My water never returned. There was a table of kids that were screaming and one jumping on the chair in the booth. I will come back, because overall my experience wasn't horrible. Prices are on point.

Authentic Mexican Breakfast at "Ay Chiwawa Mexican Cafe" Whenever I’m in San Antonio, a stop at Ay Chiwawa Mexican Cafe is a must for a traditional Mexican breakfast, and once again, they did not disappoint. This time, I started with a barbacoa taco, and let me tell you—it was absolutely delicious. The barbacoa is made in-house, slow-cooked to perfection, and packed with rich, savory flavor. But what really sets it apart are the homemade corn tortillas—not store-bought, but freshly made, soft, and slightly charred, giving the taco an authentic, home-cooked taste that’s hard to beat. I also ordered the migas plate, which comes with refried beans and golden potatoes. The migas were cooked just right, with crispy tortilla strips mixed into the fluffy eggs, creating the perfect bite every time. The salsa verde took everything to another level, adding just the right amount of heat and tanginess. If you’re looking for authentic, traditional Mexican food, this place is a must-try. Everything from the flavors to the freshness makes it a standout. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Until next time ✌️

My husband and I went out for a small dinner at this place yesterday night. I give this place a low rating bcs the food lacked..the server, super lacked and the atmosphere felt quite cold really. Not the comfort that we remember when we first started coming here 2 yrs ago. We come once a month. This place has been caring less..and less.. everything was overcooked..or soggy. The server Sebastian never checked on us. He just brought us the food. We got had to go get his attention. Plus, with the cold outside, he topped our drinks with ice. The menudo was overly salty and loaded with cummin flavor, or maybe it was just old. The tacos not crunchy at all. Food was hot from the outside and very mild warm in the inside. As if it was sitting for a while. The server looked like he was just wanting to end his shift. We even had to go get our own check. Bcs the server never came back. No..it was a total disaster from the beginning. Never going to spend our money and time here again. 😒
