Atnosphere: The atmosphere was fantastic, and that was sitting inside, getting a respite from the Texas sun.
Food: Fruit and cheese board, and chef's Plate - fantastic, got to make different pairing combinations, and my entire table had a great time. Beef Rib - This is where the lack of any seasoning started for me and my table. The most beautiful, well cooked, fall off the bone beef rib came out, and as my mouth was watering and I took a bite... I was disappointed. Not only was it not seasoned before brought to the table but not salted at all during the cooking process - i get salt to taste, but I mean that rib had zero... not even the thought of salt.
After two bites, I was able to flag down our server and request salt, and the rest of the people at the business dinner looked relieved and put their forks down. Seeing this, I made a comment about lack of salt, and it became a running joke at the table because everyone had the same issue.
Tomahawk, beef rib, fresh fish, mac'n'cheese, New York strip, and brussel sprouts all cooked fantastically but ruined by no seasoning.
After finally getting salt, the beef dishes were saved, but they still lacked flavor, and the fish dish really needed any type of other seasoning as well.
Drinks: Strong, alcohol forward, and great as expected.
As a note, I went so far as to say, and I mean this. The beef rib might have been the best I had ever had... if it had been salted properly.
Service: Horrible, we were able to get in immediately as we had an early business dinner and got there at 5. We were promptly seated and then... that was it.
If it took 15 minutes for us to get to order drinks and another 15 to get our drinks and to order appetizers because our server was too busy flirting at another table.
When the appetizers came out another 15 minutes later, we all asked for me drinks and ordered our meals. I'm not sure where our drinks ever went because we all got tired of waiting and walked to the bar and got drinks ourselves immediately.
When our food came out, it was a different server that brought it, and I assumed ours quit their job. After trying our food and realizing it desperately needed salt- I was amazed as I spotted our server and flagged them down.
They asked how our food was, and I was able to ask for salt... to which we were asked, "Why?" and my answer was obvious.
Well, guess what... time passes, and we don't see them again, and we were all ready for drinks and still hadn't gotten salt - so another trip to the bar solved all of our problems.
Our server showed up as we were all sitting back down and asked if we were ready for the check - we hadn't eaten our food, but I said yes as I assumed it would be a while... no mention of the missing salt or drinks.
Overall the food was cooked fantastic, was great quality and the restaurant was beautiful... just salt and service for 5 stars and maybe one from a...
Read moreTLDR: Avoid unless atmosphere is by far your top concern.
After our experience at this restaurant, we set a new rule. No more restaurants in hotels unless we have no other option or personal recommendations. They are always overpriced and underwhelming , but this place epitomized that dynamic.
Atmosphere: Beautiful and classy. Great Riverwalk view yet somewhat secluded. Nice furniture.
Food: we are very excited because we started off with the cornbread as an appetizer, and it was really excellent. Huge and delicious. Unfortunately, it was all steeply downhill from there. Little on the menu caught our interest so we ended up ordering burgers. We ate them but are now angry at ourselves for not sending them back. The meat had a bitter flavor(and was very dry for medium) and the molten pimiento cheese was not a good topping to our taste. We found ourselves laughing about how we had joked about stopping at Whataburger on the way because we were so hungry. And we literally wished we had after the meal. We “upgraded” the fries to their BBQ fries which basically meant they sprinkled sugar and smoked paprika on top. Props for attempting to deconstruct bbq sauce, but the sugar does NOT work without the sour that normally comes from vinegar. I would try adding salt and vinegar powder if I wanted to try and pull this off, but the current fries with sugar flavor is not working.
Price: offensive. The tab ended up being nearly $150… For two almost inedible burgers plus cornbread, one Caesar salad and one beer.
Service: Extremely slow. The server was very friendly but I’m guessing she had way too many tables. There were very long periods where we needed something, but she was nowhere to be found. I ordered a beer during the appetizer and it did not come until after I had finished the entrée. I reminded her at the checkback after the entrees were delivered expecting her to ask the bartender to fulfill the order immediately and bring jt right out, but it was another long wait and I went my entire entree without a beverage.
In summary, we will definitely never be back and we are mad at ourselves for paying that much without sending the food back. This experience affirmed to us that we have to change our conflict-avoidant ways and stop accepting less than we paid for. We feel terribly ripped off and angry with ourselves for waiting until the review to...
